In a February 16, 2024, interview, Tucker Carlson and Mike Benz, founder and executive director of Foundation for Freedom Online (FFO), discussed the erosion of free speech.

Fundamental Right to Free Speech Is at Risk

As noted by Carlson, freedom of speech, as outlined in the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights, is being eroded — not based on the truthfulness of information, but on whether it aligns with the agendas and narratives of those in power.

This right, which has been central to the identity and exceptionalism of the United States since its inception, ensures that people can express their thoughts and beliefs without fear of censorship or persecution. This right is what distinguishes us as free individuals, opposed to slaves. And, as noted by Carlson, there's no hate speech exception in the First Amendment.

"… just because you hate what somebody else thinks you cannot force that person to be quiet," Carlson says.

Carlson also points out that while censorship itself is nothing new, the censorship we face today is very different from other historical instances. It's a far more nuanced, multifaceted approach that includes societal, technological and political dimensions. Moreover, this new form of censorship is being subtly integrated into the very fabric of our daily lives, which makes it all the more insidious and difficult to combat.

The phenomenon of labeling undesirable yet truthful information as "malinformation" is but one example of this. This labeling process, devoid of concern for the factual accuracy or the honesty of the expressed views, undermines the essence of free speech by restricting open discourse based on subjective criteria rather than objective truth.

Importantly, the mechanisms enforcing this modern censorship are not confined to private sectors or individual platforms but are significantly directed and influenced by the U.S. government itself. This intertwining of state powers with censorship activities marks a troubling departure from traditional American values, where free speech has been held sacred.

While many intuitively perceive this shift, Carlson suspects they may not fully grasp the mechanics of this censorship, or just how deeply embedded it has become in the societal and political landscape. This lack of understanding further compounds the risk, as combating an unseen or poorly comprehended threat is far more challenging.

Modern Censorship Mechanics Explained

According to Benz, modern censorship is based on a complex, integrated system where governmental interests, military defense strategies and corporate technologies converge to regulate and restrict free speech, moving us away from the foundational ideals of internet freedom and openness toward a more controlled and surveilled communication landscape.

In the interview, he outlines the transformation from internet freedom to internet censorship, and how these changes have been influenced and directed by various government agencies and the military-industrial complex.

Initially, the internet was heralded as a tool of freedom, promoting open dialogue and the exchange of ideas across borders. This freedom was supported and even exploited by entities like the Pentagon, the State Department and intelligence services to advance U.S. interests abroad, particularly in facilitating regime change by supporting dissident groups in authoritarian countries. However, this perspective has shifted dramatically in the past decades.

According to Benz, the change began with the realization within U.S. and allied defense and intelligence communities that the same tools that promote freedom and regime change abroad could also be used against them, which led to a significant shift from promoting to restricting speech online.

"The high-water mark of internet free speech was the Arab Spring in 2011, 2012, when you had … all of the adversary governments of the Obama administration — Egypt, Tunisia — all began to be toppled in Facebook revolutions and Twitter revolutions, and you had the state department working very closely with the social media companies to be able to keep social media online during those periods," Benz says.

"So free speech was an instrument of statecraft from the national security state to begin with. All of that architecture, all the NGOs, the relationships between the tech companies and the national security state had been long established for freedom.

In 2014, after the coup in Ukraine, there was an unexpected counter coup, where Crimea and the Donbass broke away and they broke away with, essentially, a military backstop that NATO was highly unprepared for … That was the last straw for the concept of free speech on the internet.

In the eyes of NATO, as they saw it, the fundamental nature of war changed at that moment … You don't need to win miliary skirmishes to take over Central and Eastern Europe. All you need to do is control the media and the social media ecosystem, because that's what controls elections."

Censorship Is Now Embedded Into the Internet Infrastructure

The mechanics of modern censorship, as described by Benz, involve a coordinated effort between governmental bodies, the defense industry and tech companies to develop and implement sophisticated methods to monitor, control, and suppress speech online under the guise of combating "disinformation" and "malinformation" for national security purposes.

But, again, these efforts are not necessarily concerned with the veracity of the information but rather with its alignment with, or opposition to, certain political agendas, both national and global.

These censorship mechanisms are now embedded within the very infrastructure of the internet itself, from social media platforms to search engines, and tools initially developed to protect democracy and promote free speech, such as VPNs, Tor, encryption and private browsing modes, have all been repurposed to monitor and control the flow of information instead.

The involvement of major tech corporations — initially funded and supported by government grants and contracts — plays a crucial role in this transformation. For example, Google began as a project funded by a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) grant, awarded to founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin while they were Ph.D. students at Stanford.

This funding was part of a joint CIA-NSA program aimed at understanding how groups form and interact online, essentially tracking "birds of a feather" through search engine data aggregation. That technology is now being used to identify, monitor and silence "dissident" voices within the U.S., no matter how righteous their views may be.

Legal Frameworks Now Sustains Modern Censorship

Benz also reviews the legal and institutional frameworks established to sustain this modern censorship, which allows for a seamless transition between state objectives and private sector compliance.

This public-private interaction is a clear departure from the overt government censorship of old. What we now have is a far more nuanced, shadowy form of content control that blurs the lines between public and private actions against free speech.

As we saw during the COVID pandemic, this also allowed government to plead innocence and pretend that the decision to censor some content was done by the companies themselves.

However, between the Twitter Files, the CTIL files and the lawsuit against the Biden administration, we now have ample evidence showing that companies were pressured to comply with the government's demand for censorship. They didn't come up with that on their own.

According to Benz, it's quite clear that state-sponsored initiatives, supported by defense and intelligence agencies, are shaping online narratives and controlling information flow in the U.S. under the pretense that national security is at stake. As such, these initiatives have led to a form of legalized censorship.

U.S.-led initiatives have also influenced internet governance and free speech regulations internationally. For example, the European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA) is a significant legislative move towards formalizing and legalizing online censorship.

The DSA, which took effect February 17, 2024, requires tech companies to comply with stringent content moderation policies to operate within the EU market. This act represents a legal framework that extends well beyond traditional boundaries of censorship.

It pushes companies to police content in accordance with European standards, which is basically just a proxy for NATO and U.S. foreign policy objectives. Collectively, these frameworks mark a global shift towards institutionalizing online censorship through legal and regulatory measures. As noted by Benz, "What I'm describing is military rule. It's the inversion of democracy."

Building a Whole-of-Society Solution

As explained by Benz, the censorship industry was built as a whole-of-society effort, and to combat that, we need a whole-of-society solution.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, misinformation online is a whole-of-society problem that requires a whole-of-society solution. By that, they mean that four types of institutions must fuse together as a seamless whole. Those four categories and key functions are:

1. Government institutions, which provide funding and coordination.
2. Private sector institutions that do the censorship and dedicate funds to censorship through corporate-social responsibility programs.
3. Civil society institutions (universities, NGOs, academia, foundations, nonprofits and activists) that do the research, the spying and collecting of data that are then given to the private sector to censor.
4. News media/fact checking institutions, which put pressure on institutions, platforms and businesses to comply with the censorship demands.

Benz' organization, FFO, educates people about this structure, and the ways in which legislatures and the government can be restructured, how civil society institutions can be established, and how news media can be created to support and promote freedom rather than censorship.

I firmly believe that we can turn this situation around, if for no other reason than the fact that there are some eight billion of us who want freedom, while those who seek to enslave us number in the thousands, or tens of thousands at the most. Either way, they're clearly outnumbered.

But we need to spread the word, and help our friends and family understand how important our decisions are. We either support the network that seeks to take our freedom, or the network that seeks to protect it. Educate yourself about what's at stake, then trust yourself to make the right decisions.

As the name implies, antibiotics help fight bacterial infections. They have no effect on infections caused by viruses, such as the common cold, seasonal influenza, SARS-CoV-2 and some ear infections. Antibiotic drugs are routinely overused, both in human medicine and agriculture, resulting in the proliferation of antibiotic-resistant infections.

Taking an antibiotic unnecessarily will also kill off your beneficial gut bacteria, which could make it more difficult for you to recover from your illness. The good news is there are many natural plant-based remedies that will help kill bacteria without the risk of building resistance. Here's a review of 10 natural antimicrobials you can reach for as a first line of defense, before resorting to a pharmaceutical antibiotic.

Medicinal Honey

As long as you use the right kind of honey, science backs its use for a variety of bacterial infections, especially when used topically. As explained in the 2011 paper, "Honey: Its Medicinal Property and Antibacterial Activity":¹

"[The] medicinal importance of honey has been documented in the world's oldest medical literatures, and since the ancient times, it has been known to possess antimicrobial property as well as wound-healing activity.

The healing property of honey is due to the fact that it offers antibacterial activity, maintains a moist wound condition, and its high viscosity helps to provide a protective barrier to prevent infection. Its immunomodulatory property is relevant to wound repair too.

The antimicrobial activity in most honeys is due to the enzymatic production of hydrogen peroxide. However, another kind of honey, called non-peroxide honey (viz., manuka honey), displays significant antibacterial effects even when the hydrogen peroxide activity is blocked …

The medical grade honeys have potent in vitro bactericidal activity against antibiotic-resistant bacteria causing several life-threatening infections to humans."

In 2018, the U.K. Department of Health proposed guidelines recommending the use of honey as a first line of treatment for coughs, as part of its goal to reduce inappropriate antibiotic use. As reported by BBC News:²

"A hot drink with honey — and often with lemon and ginger as well — is a well-known home remedy for coughs and a sore throat … [P]roposed guidelines from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and Public Health England (PHE) say there is some limited evidence that it can help improve cough symptoms."

The nectar from the manuka flower contains dihydroxyacetone, a precursor to methylglyoxal (MGO), an antimicrobial compound not found in most other honey. Australian manuka honey is perhaps the most well-known and well-studied medicinal honey, with clinical studies demonstrating its effectiveness in the treatment of:³

• Bacterial infections — Manuka honey has been shown to effectively eradicate a long list of bacteria,⁴ including helicobacter pylori responsible for peptic ulcer diseases and gastritis, and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Manuka honey also effectively removes stubborn biofilm produced by Staphylococcus aureus⁵
• Skin diseases, ulcers, burns and necrosis
• Dental caries and plaque, periodontal infections and gingivitis
• Ulcerative colitis and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
• Wounds, including post-surgical wounds

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the first manuka-based medical product in 2007⁶ (Medihoney by Derma Sciences Inc.). Today, several different brands of Manuka-based wound and burn dressings can be found online.

Do not use conventional store-bought honey for wound care. It lacks the medicinal qualities of medicinal honeys like Manuka, and could potentially feed rather than inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria. For more information, see this September 21, 2022, article on Manuka honey. Used internally, your best bet is raw, locally sourced, unprocessed honey. There's a lot of fake honey out there, so use caution.

Garlic

Garlic has been used to fight bacterial and parasitical infections for centuries. According to a 2014 review, garlic has been proven effective against "a plethora of gram-positive, gram-negative, and acid-fast bacteria," including but not limited to:⁷

Salmonella	Escherichia coli
Pseudomonas	Proteus
Staphylococcus aureus	Klebsiella
Micrococcus	Bacillus subtIlis
Clostridium	Mycobacterium
Helicobacter	Vancomycin-resistant enterococcus

Importantly, garlic "exerts a differential inhibition between beneficial intestinal microflora and potentially harmful enterobacteria," meaning it inhibits bad bacteria while leaving good bacteria alone.⁸

Garlic also has antiprotozoal and antifungal properties, and according to the 2014 review⁹ above, garlic can be an effective treatment for conditions such as Candida albicans, multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and giardiasis.

In the case of giardiasis — an intestinal infection marked by stomach cramps, bloating, nausea and watery diarrhea — researchers found commercially available garlic capsules eliminated the symptoms in all patients within 24 hours.

Research also supports the use of garlic and garlic derivatives for chronic external- and middle-ear infections. According to one such study,¹⁰ two components of garlic, allicin and s-allyl cysteine (SAC), were effective against the microorganisms involved in most ear infections, even at low concentrations. Garlic-infused oils are commercially available, but you can also make your own. Here's a recipe previously published by Verywell Health:¹¹

"You will need one garlic clove, olive oil, a pan, a strainer, a glass jar with a lid, a dropper, and a piece of cotton. You can make your own garlic oil in a few easy steps:

Once the oil is ready, you can use it as you would any other type of eardrop."

Ginger

Ginger, available in extract, tincture, oil and oral capsule form, also has potent antimicrobial activity. A 2020 study¹² demonstrated that ginger essential oil was effective against E. coli and S. aureus, two bacteria involved in periodontal infections.

According to the authors, the bactericidal effects of ginger essential oil appears to be due to its ability to disrupt the bacterial cell membrane. As such, it may also be useful in food preservation.

Another study¹³ found a 10% ginger extract effectively killed Streptococcus mutans, Candida albicans and Enterococcus faecalis, which are also implicated in the causation of oral infections. More than a dozen other bacteria are also vulnerable to its effects,¹⁴ as are a number of biofilms.¹⁵

Ginger is not suitable for children under age 2, and adults should not take more than 4 grams of ginger per day. Pregnant women are advised to cap their intake at 1 gram per day.¹⁶

Echinacea

Echinacea extract has antibacterial properties and is known to have been used by Native Americans for more than 400 years to treat wounds and infections. According to Mount Sinai Hospital,¹⁷ echinacea may be used to treat "urinary tract infections, vaginal yeast (candida) infections, ear infections (also known as otitis media), athlete's foot, sinusitis, hay fever (also called allergic rhinitis), as well as slow-healing wounds."

It's also a popular remedy for upper respiratory infections, such as the common cold and flu. According to a 2021 study,¹⁸ a nanosized echinacea extract was found to have up to 16-fold higher antibacterial activity against multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae strains, compared to regular extract.

Echinacea is available in many forms, including extracts, tinctures, tablets and capsules. As a general recommendation for infection, take it three times a day for a maximum of 10 days.¹⁹

Goldenseal

Like echinacea, goldenseal is often used for the prevention and alleviation of cold symptoms, and a number of products combining the two can be found. One of the main constituents of goldenseal is berberine, known for its potent antibacterial properties.

Berberine primarily kills gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA. Berberine is not the sole component responsible for goldenseal's antimicrobial effects, however. Extract from the aerial portions of the plant also has potent antibacterial effects that cannot be attributed to berberine alone, which is primarily found in the roots. As explained in a 2011 paper:²⁰

"We hypothesize that [aerial goldenseal] extracts contain efflux pump inhibitors that synergistically enhance the antimicrobial activity of berberine. Bacterial efflux pumps are membrane bound proteins that pump toxins out of bacterial cells.

Overexpression of efflux pumps contributes to the development of resistance in bacteria, including S. aureus. Inhibition of efflux pumps may enhance the effectiveness of antimicrobial agents that are substrates for these pumps, and decrease the minimum inhibitory concentration for the antimicrobials."

According to Mount Sinai,²¹ goldenseal is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, and those with high blood pressure, liver disease or heart disease should discuss its use with their medical provider, as it can interfere with medications prescribed for these conditions. Potential adverse effects include irritation of the skin, mouth, throat and vagina, and increased sensitivity to sunlight.

Myrrh Oil

When an antibiotic fails to kill off all the bacteria, you can end up with nongrowing bacterial persister cells. While these persisters do not undergo genetic change to make them resistant to the antibiotic, they often end up forming biofilms and are a major cause of chronic low-grade infections.²²

This is where myrrh oil really shines, as research²³ shows it preferentially kills off these nongrowing persister cells, and do so without the risk of promoting resistance. As noted by the authors:

"We report here that myrrh has a strong and unique antibiotic activity preferentially against nongrowing bacteria, a property not found in any commercially available antibiotic.

This unique property, along with its low toxicity and less tendency of antibiotic resistance development, suggests that myrrh can be developed to be a promising and ideal antibiotic with lower dosage requirements."

Other research suggests it may be useful in the treatment of respiratory infections, gingivitis,²⁴ treatment-resistant trichomoniasis vaginalis²⁵ (a sexually transmitted disease) and Lyme disease.²⁶

Thyme Essential Oil

Thyme essential oil has antibacterial, antibiofilm, antiviral, antifungal and antiseptic properties, and has a history of use in the treatment of upper respiratory infections. Quality matters, however. As noted in the 2020 paper, "Thymol and Thyme Essential Oil — New Insights into Selected Therapeutic Applications":

"… only standardized preparations of thyme herb and essential oil that meet the requirements of national pharmacopeias or European Pharmacopoeia X (Ph. Eur. X) are used for the production of medicines.

According to the Ph. Eur. X definition, thyme herb is described as whole leaves and flowers separated from the dried stems of Thymus vulgaris or Thymus zygis or their mixture with 12 mL/kg of minimum essential oil (EO) and minimum thymol and carvacrol contents of 40%.

Thyme EO is defined as a product of the steam distillation of fresh flowering aerial parts of one or a mixture of both species with 37% – 55% thymol and 0.5% – 5.5% carvacrol concentrations …

Thyme herb and its volatile oil have long been used for the treatment of upper respiratory tract infections, symptoms of bronchitis, parasitic infections, pruritus associated with dermatitis, bruises, and sprains. Nowadays, it is generally used as an expectorant in cough associated with cold and also in dentistry as a disinfectant.

It exerts an antibacterial effect on Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and has antiviral (herpes simplex virus type I, human rhinoviruses and influenza viruses), antifungal, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and spasmolytic activity.

Although thyme volatile oil has cytotoxic properties in high concentrations and may cause intestinal cell damage when administered orally, no toxicity has been reported at commonly used doses, and it can be considered as a safe drug.

Skin administration in high concentrations may cause irritation. In rare cases, an allergic reaction can occur, manifesting as skin rash, bronchospasm, asthma attack, and anaphylaxis. Therefore, this EO is contraindicated in persons allergic to thyme or other plants from the Lamiaceae family due to a possible cross-reactivity."

Oregano Oil

Oregano oil has shown effectiveness against bacteria such as Streptococcus mutans,²⁷ which causes dental cavities, as well as 11 different multidrug-resistant bacteria, including Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and MRSA, and their biofilms.²⁸

Tests have also confirmed that repeated use of oregano oil does not lead to resistance, which makes it a useful remedy in the treatment of wounds. As reported in a 2018 study in Frontiers in Microbiology:²⁹

"While efficiently inactivating bacteria, there was no evidence of resistance development after up to 20 consecutive passages of representative bacterial strains in the presence of sublethal doses of oregano oil.

In vivo study using the third-degree burn wounds infected with PA01 or USA300 demonstrated that oregano oil, topically applied 24 h after bacterial inoculation, sufficiently reduced the bacterial load in the wounds by 3 log₁₀ in 1 h …

This bactericidal activity of oregano oil concurred with no significant side effect on the skin histologically or genotoxicity after three topical applications of oregano oil at 10 mg/ml for three consecutive days.

The investigation suggests potentials of oregano oil as an alternative to antibiotics for the treatment of wound-associated infections regardless of antibiotic susceptibility."

Clove Extract and Cranberries Combat UTIs

Two natural antimicrobials shown to be useful against urinary tract infections (UTIs) are clove extract and cranberry juice. A study³⁰ comparing the antimicrobial activity of clove extract and commercial clove essential oil (both having standardized eugenol content) found the extract was far more effective.

The ethanolic clove extract exhibited broad-spectrum inhibition against both gram-negative and gram-positive UTI-causing pathogens such as Proteus mirabilis, Staphylococcus epidermidis, S. aureus, E. coli and K. pneumoniae.

Cranberry juice is perhaps one of the most well-known remedies against UTIs. As explained in the 2018 review "Cranberry Consumption Against Urinary Tract Infections":³¹

"Cranberry antibacterial effects have extensively been studied in order to understand the molecular mechanisms of action of its bioactive components and their clinical benefits against UTIs …

Current clinical evidence clearly indicates a possible benefit overall from the use of cranberries against UTIs. Cranberry consumption may prevent bacterial adherence to uroepithelial cells, reducing UTI related symptoms.

Cranberry consumption could also decrease UTI related symptoms by suppressing inflammatory cascades as an immunologic response to bacterial invasion … At present, cranberry supplementation can safely be suggested as complementary therapy in women with recurrent UTIs."

A Cochrane Database of Systematic Review³² published in April 2023 confirmed that cranberry products — including juice or capsules — reduced the risk of symptomatic, confirmed UTIs in several groups.

In children, the UTI risk was reduced by 54%, in patients at increased risk to UTIs due to a medical intervention such as radiation treatment the risk was lowered by 53%, and in women with a history of recurrent UTIs the risk was reduced by 26%.

Nebulized Hydrogen Peroxide for Respiratory Infections

It's also worth remembering what I believe is the most effective remedy for upper respiratory infections (URIs). Many make the mistake of taking antibiotics for URIs, but they won't work, as they only kill bacteria and URIs are typically caused by viruses. The video above has my latest recommendations on how to prepare the hydrogen peroxide/saline nebulization solution and equipment to use.

Over the last three years, I've interviewed Dr. Thomas Levy and Dr. David Brownstein about this remarkably effective, yet simple and inexpensive treatment option. Both treated COVID patients with nebulized peroxide with great success.^33,34

In most cases, including severe ones, improvement is seen within just a few hours. To inactivate viruses with hydrogen peroxide, all you need is a face mask that covers your mouth and nose and a nebulizer that emits a fine mist with properly diluted food grade hydrogen peroxide.

The microscopic mist, like smoke or vapor, can be comfortably inhaled deep into your nostrils, sinuses and lungs. I recommend using a desktop nebulizer, as they're stronger and provide a much finer mist than handheld battery-operated versions.

Hydrogen Peroxide Rapidly Inactivates Viruses

Hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) consists of a water molecule (H₂O) with an extra oxygen atom (O₂), and it is the additional oxygen atom that allows it to inactivate viral pathogens. Some of your immune cells produce hydrogen peroxide to destroy pathogens. By killing the infected cell, viral reproduction is stopped. So, hydrogen peroxide therapy aids your immune cells to perform their natural function more effectively.

Many studies have investigated the use of hydrogen peroxide against different pathogens. For example, a 2020 review³⁵ of 22 studies found that 0.5% hydrogen peroxide effectively inactivated a range of human coronaviruses, including those responsible for SARS and MERS, within one minute of exposure.

According to Brownstein, all pathogens studied to date have been found to succumb to hydrogen peroxide, albeit at varying concentrations and for different amounts of exposure.

How to Properly Dilute the Peroxide

While you can use virtually any percentage of food grade peroxide, it's crucial to dilute it properly before use. What you want is a 0.1% dilution, so even a 3% hydrogen peroxide will need to be diluted at least 30 times.

In a pinch, you could use commercial 3% hydrogen peroxide, the stuff used for wound care, but I don't recommend routine use of it as it contains stabilizing chemicals that can detract from the benefits. Also, you want to dilute the hydrogen peroxide with hypertonic saline, not plain water, as the lack of electrolytes in the water can damage your lungs if you nebulize that. Using saline prevents the osmotic differential that can damage lung cells.

To end up with a final peroxide/hypertonic saline solution concentration of 0.1%, you need to go through two steps:

1. Create the hypertonic saline solution
2. Dilute the peroxide

I used to recommend using normal saline, which contains 0.9% salt, but a 2021 study³⁶ found that a 1.5% sodium chloride solution (hypertonic saline) achieved a 100% inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 replication in vitro (in cell culture). Using lower levels of saline, like 1.1%, only inhibited 88%. So, I now recommend using hypertonic saline instead, which would be slightly less than double the amount of salt used to make normal saline.

To make hypertonic (1.5%) saline, simply mix 1.5 teaspoons of high-quality unprocessed salt to one pint of purified or distilled water. Stir until the salt is thoroughly dissolved. Be sure to use proper measuring spoons and not a regular kitchen teaspoon. For even greater precision, you could use a digital scale to measure out exactly 7.1 grams of salt.

If the 1.5% hypertonic solution causes nasal burning, irritation or cough, you can lower the concentration to 0.9% salt, which is isotonic normal saline. For this you would decrease the salt to one level teaspoon to one pint of water. Once you have your saline solution and a food grade hydrogen peroxide, dilute the peroxide according to the following chart, based on the concentration you're starting with.

Once you have your peroxide-saline solution, simply pour 1 teaspoon of it into the nebulizer and inhale the entire amount. If you like, you can add one drop of 5% Lugol's iodine solution to the nebulizer as well. Some find it boosts the effects.

I recommend using nebulized peroxide for any suspected respiratory infection, and the earlier you start, the better. If you're already presenting with a runny nose or sore throat, use the nebulizer for 10 to 15 minutes four times a day until your symptoms are relieved.

You can also use nebulized hydrogen peroxide for prevention and maintenance, which may be advisable during flu season. There is no danger in doing it every day if you're frequently exposed, and there may even be additional beneficial effects, such as a rapid rise in your blood oxygen level.

Carnitine is another important nutrient that's abundant in animal foods. Your body produces L-carnitine from the amino acid lysine, and while healthy people are typically able to synthesize enough, certain conditions — like pregnancy — may cause your body's need for carnitine to exceed its ability to produce it. For this reason, carnitine is considered a conditionally essential nutrient.¹

L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine are forms of carnitine found in dietary supplements. While your body absorbs carnitine from animal foods such as grass fed beef better than carnitine in dietary supplements,² some research suggests L-carnitine supplements may benefit certain conditions.

Carnitine for Brain Health

Your body needs carnitine for energy production. It helps transport long-chain fatty acids into your mitochondria where they're oxidized and turned into energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP),³ which is needed by your cells for life, repair and regeneration. Carnitine may also help remove toxins from the mitochondria.⁴

Acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR) is more easily absorbed in your gut than L-carnitine, and also crosses the blood-brain barrier.⁵ ALCAR has many beneficial effects on brain metabolism, protects against neurotoxic insults and has been shown to benefit certain forms of depression. In one study,⁶ healthy mice given ALCAR for 25 days at a dose of about half a gram per kilo were found to have increased levels of the neurotransmitters noradrenaline and serotonin.

According to the authors, this is "consistent with ALCAR's potential efficacy for depressive symptoms." In another study, ALCAR was found to improve the clinical condition of patients with degenerative cerebellar ataxia, a condition resulting in the loss of control of bodily movements.⁷According to the authors, "statistically significant improvement of some symptoms and a slow progression of the disease in both groups of patients" were observed.

Carnitine for Alzheimer's Disease and Autism

Carnitine is also being studied for use in Alzheimer's disease. According to the National Institutes of Health:⁸

"Cholinergic neurons use the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, and Alzheimer's disease is often treated by increasing acetylcholine levels or preventing its breakdown. Carnitine might be conditionally essential in individuals with Alzheimer's disease because it may support acetylcholine synthesis and help remove toxic compounds to alleviate mitochondrial dysfunction associated with extensive degeneration of brain structures.

Therefore, researchers have examined whether acetyl-L-carnitine supplements benefit individuals with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia, but studies have had mixed results."

In a meta-analysis of 21 studies, adults with mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer's disease took 1.5 grams to 3 grams of acetyl-L-carnitine or placebo daily for three to 12 months. Those taking acetyl-L-carnitine had greater improvements than those taking placebo.^9,10

It's also been widely studied for autism as a treatment that targets mitochondria. One meta-analysis found low carnitine in 80% of children with autism.¹¹ As explained in Seminars in Pediatric Neurology:¹²

"Two medium sized (n = 30, 30) double-blind placebo-controlled studies using L-carnitine treatment (50 mg/kg/d for 3 months and 100 mg/kg/d for 6 months) found that scores on the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) improved with L-carnitine as compared to placebo with one study finding that greater symptomatic improvement was correlated with a greater increase in blood carnitine levels.

A small (n = 10) 8-week open-label trial of L-carnitine used particularly high doses (up to 400 mg/kg/d in 3 divided doses, maximum of 6000 mg/d) …

Several parental rated measures showed improvements in behavior and hyperactivity before correction for multiple comparisons and improvements in language correlated with post-treatment blood carnitine levels. Children with ASD and genetic mutations in the carnitine pathway also appear to response to L-carnitine.

… Thus, L-Carnitine is a promising treatment for children with ASD. For child neurologists, it is always important to remember that children with ASD could have an underlying defect in carnitine metabolism."

Carnitine for Heart Health

There's some evidence that carnitine may help moderate oxidative stress and decrease inflammation, benefitting heart health. It may also help prevent potentially fatal arrhythmias, or irregular heart rhythms.¹³

One meta-analysis involving 3,629 adults found, "Compared with placebo or control, L-carnitine is associated with a 27% reduction in all-cause mortality, a 65% reduction in Vas [ventricular arrhythmias], and a 40% reduction in anginal symptoms in patients experiencing an acute myocardial infarction."¹⁴

There's some controversy over carnitine for cardiovascular disease, however, because it's metabolized by gut microbiota into trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO), a substance associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease,¹⁵ although the evidence on that is mixed.

According to James DiNicolantonio, Pharm.D., who is also the coauthor of my book, "Superfuel: Ketogenic Keys to Unlock the Secrets of Good Fats, Bad Fats, and Great Health," the likely true cause of elevated TMAO levels is hepatic insulin resistance.¹⁶ Because carnitine (and choline) raises TMAO, some recommend limiting dietary and supplementary intake of these nutrients.

However, DiNicolantonio and his coauthors point out there's a significant flaw in this theory, stating, "… supplemental carnitine is known to be highly protective in patients with vascular disease; and fish, the richest dietary source of preformed TMAO, is also protective."¹⁷ There's little evidence to suggest that dietary intake of TMAO or its precursors actually promote CVD, provided your renal function is normal. DiNicolantonio explains:¹⁸

"With respect to carnitine and CV risk, a meta-analysis¹⁹ of prospective clinical trials in patients who had recently experienced a myocardial infarction concluded that carnitine supplementation is markedly protective with respect to total mortality, ventricular arrhythmias and new-onset angina …

Clinical trials^20,21 have also reported favorable effects of supplemental carnitine or carnitine esters on angina, intermittent claudication and heart failure.

Moreover, rodent atherogenesis studies, in which carnitine has been administered in doses reasonably proportional to the supplementation doses used clinically, have found that carnitine is anti-atherogenic, despite its propensity to raise TMAO …

It is therefore reasonable to suspect that moderately elevated TMAO, rather than being a mediator of the associated CV risk, is a marker for factors which both promote CV events and increase plasma TMAO."

Carnitine for Weight Loss

Research suggests L-carnitine supplements, which are the least expensive form on the market with an absorption rate of 14% to 18%,²² may be useful for weight loss. In a systematic review and meta-analysis of 37 trials, L-carnitine supplementation significantly decreased body weight, body mass index and fat mass, particularly in adults who are overweight or obese.²³

"A nonlinear dose-response association was seen between L-carnitine supplementation and body weight reduction … suggesting that ingestion of 2000 mg L-carnitine per day provides the maximum effect in adults," the team, from Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences in Iran, noted.²⁴

Carnitine May Improve Fertility

L-carnitine concentrates in the epididymis, a duct behind the testis where sperm mature. Concentrations of L-carnitine in semen have been linked to the number of sperm, suggesting it may play an important role in fertility in men. Some research also shows that L-carnitine supplementation for two months may improve sperm quality and motility.²⁵ According to the NIH:²⁶

"Carnitine might play a role in sperm maturation, sperm motility, and spermatogenesis. It might also reduce oxidative stress, which could improve oocyte growth and maturation. Therefore, researchers are examining whether supplemental carnitine improves sperm count, concentration, and motility as well as pregnancy rates."

Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which can affect fertility, may also benefit from carnitine. A systematic review and meta-analysis involving women with PCOS revealed that carnitine supplementation ranging from 250 mg to 3,000 mg daily for 84 to 90 days significantly improved ovulation and pregnancy rates, while reducing BMI and insulin resistance.²⁷

Carnitine to Boost Athletic Performance

There's interest in the use of carnitine to enhance athletic performance, in part because carnitine preserves muscle glycogen while boosting fat oxidation. "It also spares the use of amino acids as energy sources during exercise, making them potentially available for new protein synthesis, and decreases the accumulation of lactate," NIH notes,²⁸ but research is mixed on its benefits.

In one study published in the Journal of Physiology, the data showed L-carnitine supplementation for six months raised levels of muscle carnitine by 21%.²⁹ Further, participants taking carnitine supplements raised their athletic performance and work output by 11% in a 30-minute performance trial.

The researchers explained this improvement "by the dual role of carnitine — glycogen sparing at low intensities and reduced muscle lactate accumulation at high intensities."³⁰

Where carnitine further shines is for those with frailty. It's been suggested that carnitine deficiency could cause frailty via mitochondrial dysfunction, with research showing pre-frail older adults had decreases in frailty and improvement in hand grip strength when they took 1.5 grams of carnitine daily for 10 weeks.³¹

Carnitine for Liver Health and More

Additional research is looking into the effects of carnitine supplementation on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). A systematic review and meta-analysis revealed that L-carnitine supplementation may improve liver function and regulate triglyceride metabolism in those with NAFLD. Writing in Systematic Reviews, researchers explained:³²

"The main drivers in NAFLD are inflammation and accumulation of lipids, and L-carnitine has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects by upregulating the peroxisome proliferator activator receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) in the liver. L-carnitine is also closely related to fat metabolism."

Beyond the liver, carnitine also shows promise for a range of other health conditions, including:^33,34

• Insulin resistance
• Diabetes
• Osteoarthritis
• Muscle cramps

In another example, a systematic review and meta-analysis found men and women experienced improvements in waist circumference and blood pressure, two biomarkers of metabolic syndrome, when taking carnitine supplements.³⁵

The studies used carnitine doses between 0.75 grams (gm) and 3 gm per day for eight to 24 weeks, with researchers suggesting biomarkers of metabolic syndrome could improve with a carnitine dose of 1 gm to 3 gm per day, by reducing fasting blood sugar and triglycerides, while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.

Are You Getting Enough Carnitine?

Most people can effectively synthesize between 11 mg and 34 mg of carnitine per day, which is typically enough to prevent deficiency.³⁶ Animal foods, including meat, seafood and dairy, are the richest sources of L-carnitine, so if you eat animal protein it will virtually assure you receive enough carnitine without having to take supplements.

However, if you eat a primarily plant-based diet or are targeting certain conditions, you may need to consider supplementation. Acetyl-L-carnitine (not regular L-carnitine), for instance, appears to be particularly beneficial for improving memory, but you need about 2,000 mg to 2,500 mg a day. Most notice a difference after a few weeks.

If you do choose to supplement, be sure to choose a reputable source. When NOW Foods tested seven largely unknown brands of acetyl-L-carnitine, none met label claims and most were labeled incorrectly.³⁷

In this article let's dive into why I believe you should only be eating cheese made with ANIMAL RENNET, and how over 90% of the cheese sold in the U.S. does not use this and instead uses a genetically modified version made by Pfizer.

Cheese History

Who doesn't love cheese?! And for good reason — it is not only delicious but also incredibly nutritious. And despite what mainstream tells us, humans have been making and consuming this superfood for over 7,000 years.^1,2,3 In fact, cheese serves an important role in human history.

Historians document that milk, dairy and fermented dairy products, like cheese, served as a nutrient-dense calorie source that was storable, allowing some of the first explorers to safely travel and expand communities, creating more demographic shifts and diverse farming communities.

"Dairy provided food security, as it is a nutrient-rich superfood.

Consumption of milk and dairy products would have had many advantages for early farming populations. Milk, yogurt, and cheese are good sources of calories, protein, and fat. They provide a reliable food between harvests or during droughts, epidemics, or famines.

Milk is a relatively pathogen-free source of fluids that could be critical during times of water scarcity. Cheese provides a means of storing these nutrients to be used when milk production is low, and can be easily transported.

Furthermore, fermentation of milk into yogurt or cheese lowers lactose content and allows lactose intolerant individuals to reap the benefits, while maintain, or in some cases enhancing, other essential nutrients such as fat and calcium."⁴

But cheese was traditionally made with just these four ingredients:

You add culture to milk and let it ferment. Then, you add rennet, which separates the milk into curds and whey. Then you press the curds and age them. And voila — cheese!

Rennet is a complex set of enzymes that are naturally produced in the stomachs of ruminant animals, like cows. The main enzyme present is chymosin, which is a protease enzyme, meaning it breaks down protein. Rennet from animals also contains other enzymes like pepsin and lipase.

So these enzymes in rennet target casein, the main protein in milk. They cause the casein molecules to divide and re-coagulate into even larger clumps, forming cheese curds. So, rennet serves as a vital part of cheesemaking since it helps curdle the milk into cheese, separating the liquid part from the solid part.

Types of Rennet

There are four types of rennet used in the cheese making industry: animal rennet, vegetable rennet, microbial rennet, and FPC (a GMO version).

How FPC Is Made

Here's how it is made: The rennet producing gene is taken out of the animal cell's DNA string and then inserted into the bacteria, yeast or mold host cell's DNA string in a process known as gene splicing (a type of recombinant DNA technology). Once inserted, the newly placed gene initiates the production of the chymosin enzyme within the host. The host culture is then cultivated and fermented.

These recombinant DNA technologies are relatively new and became popular in the 1980s when the U.S. Supreme Court by a 5-4 vote ruled that new life forms can be patented.¹² So then in 1990, in another precedent-setting decision by a U.S. government office, the FDA approved the use of FPC in food. It was the first time a bioengineered product was permitted in food in the U.S. It gets better.

This bioengineered chymosin (FPC) was granted Generally Regarded as Safe (GRAS) status. Meaning, Pfizer was exempt from the pre-approval requirements that apply to other (non GRAS) new food additives.

Since Pfizer demonstrated what is often referred to as "substantial equivalence," the FDA concluded that bioengineered chymosin was substantially equivalent to calf rennet and needed neither special labeling nor indication of its source or method of production.

In case you didn't know, this "GRAS" label is a little hand wavy and just a big loophole. In general, federal law requires the FDA to ensure that food additives are safe and mandates a rigorous pre-market safety review process. But the loophole = GRAS.

The GRAS Loophole

Forty-three percent of food additives are designated "GRAS" and don't get FDA oversight. Essentially, we must trust that food companies will conduct unbiased safety determinations before adding these new GRAS substances to our food.

"According to the FDC Act, food additives that are non-GRAS need approval prior to marketing. In contrast, GRAS substances do not require approval or notification to the USFDA prior to marketing."¹³

Meaning the public and other regulatory agencies lack the data needed to assess the safety of some chemicals in our foods. In 2014, Former Deputy FDA Commissioner for Foods Michael Taylor commented on FDA's failure to regulate food chemicals, saying:¹⁴ "We simply do not have the information to vouch for the safety of many of these chemicals."

GRAS may have started out with good intentions, but it has turned out to be a giant loophole for food companies to get a free pass to use chemical additives in our food with little to no oversight. And of course, there is no other developed country in the world that has a system as archaic as GRAS for approving food additives. Okay tangent aside, back to FPC.

FPC Cheese Is Except From GMO Labeling

Even though the organisms that produce this FPC are genetically modified, dairy products using this technology are exempt from having to label their products as "GMO." In fact, FPC is just listed as "microbial rennet" or "vegetable rennet" on labels. (The source of the rennet is not required to be listed). So it is a little deceiving.

The "Non-GMO" national project does not agree with this FPC technology and believes this is a high-risk ingredient. Moreover, FPC is not permitted in USDA Organic cheeses. And here is a comment from the American Cheese Society:

"FPC rennet is a genetically modified organism (GMO). According to the culture companies, 90% of North American cheese is made with FPC rennet. But ingredient labels do not distinguish between this type of microbial rennet and the original non-GMO type.

And the fact that use of FPC-type microbial rennet is not labeled a GMO leaves those who oppose GMOs in the dark when it comes to choosing cheese."

And once again, FPC is used in 90% of the cheese made in the U.S.! These alternative rennet methods are up to 2X cheaper than using animal rennet, since it speeds up the aging process to make cheese ready for market faster, which means more profits.

They also allows cheese companies to market to vegetarians (since animal rennet, derived from the stomach of a ruminant animal, would not be allowed). But is FPC safe?

Safety Concerns of GM Enzymes

Well, again, this technology is new. So there are no long term studies evaluating the safety of eating a small amount of this genetically modified food additive every single day.¹⁵ But there are two main concerns: 1) toxicity and 2) digestive issues since these rennet alternatives can serve as an allergen.¹⁶

Toxicity Concerns

Toxicity meaning that the enzyme solution contains bio toxins from the genetically modified host (mold or fungus) that is being cultured and fermented in the lab. The producers of these enzymes claim the final FPC enzyme solution is highly purified, but some people react as though they still contain some of the allergens from the host microorganisms themselves.

In fact, traces of the genetically engineered bacteria have been found in enzymes.¹⁷ A few quotes from the literature regarding these toxicity concerns. I don't know about you, but I have no desire to consume bio toxins from genetically modified organisms!

"Genetically modified food enzymes are currently produced from GMOs. Safety concerns have been raised regarding potential contamination of food with bacterial toxins or mycotoxins, allergens, or uncharacterized extraneous substances as impurities."¹⁸

"Because these enzymes are purified from microbial sources, toxic substances might be present in enzyme preparations/isolates. The toxic substances are basically bacterial toxins and mycotoxins, which might cause problems/risks related to the health of consumers.

Safety legislation is also very much attentive regarding the allergenic properties of manufactured enzymes, as it is well known that enzymes are potent inhalative sensitizers.

Apart from that, numerous uncharacterized extraneous substances/ impurities of microbial/biological origin may also be present in the enzyme preparation, which is also a matter of prime concern while evaluating the safety of commercial enzyme products."¹⁹

"While food enzyme preparations are considered unlikely to cause any acute toxicity, genotoxicity, or repeat-dose oral toxicity, it is the fermentation product(s) of microorganisms from the manufacturing process that is/are of interest due to the potential presence of secondary metabolites that may induce toxicity when ingested (eg. aflatoxins, fumonisins and/or ochratoxins)."²⁰

So, some are concerned about continuous ingestion of these bio toxins over time, and the negative health consequences those would have over the course of years. And unfortunately, there isn't much regulation here. "Currently, the companies themselves are responsible for the quality control of their products."²¹ Gee, that's not helpful!

Allergens and Digestive Issues

So as a result of a small amount of these toxins potentially showing up in the final cheese product (and slight structural changes in the final proteins), the cheese can now serve as an allergen and can cause an allergic reaction, or digestive and respiratory issues.²²

• Stomach upset or discomfort
• Runny nose, increase in mucus production

Consumers then may think they can't digest cheese — but hey, maybe it is just the cheese that was made! It may not be the dairy itself, but the microorganism residues that elicit an allergic response, or irritate the gut lining.

I personally do not digest cheese that is made with this FPC (which again can be "vegetable rennet" or "microbial rennet" on labels). I get stomach upset and a disruption of my normal bowel movements. So something isn't going right there! I can only digest cheese made with animal rennet, so I am very picky with what cheese I consume day to day!

GMO Cheese May Compromise Your Gut Health

One of the biggest issues here is the potential disruption of the gut microbiome.

"Lastly, the case study highlights the issues related to the dissemination of [antimicrobial resistance] genes due to their potential acquisition by the human commensal flora, via direct food consumption and by environmental bacteria through contact with soil and water surfaces or food waste. This is especially the case as a living GMM [genetically modified micro-organism] was found in a FE [enzyme] preparation."²³

In addition, allergic responses from ingesting the biotoxin residues or modified protein structures.

"A known safety risk linked to industrial enzyme use is respiratory allergy and for most proteases there is also some potential for skin and eye irritation … Enzymes present a risk of a respiratory allergy (e.g. Aspergillus-derived enzymes in bakers' asthma) and it is well described in the scientific literature …"²⁴

"Genetic modification of enzymes may also change their allergenic properties, posing new potential health risks. For instance, type I sensitization was found in a study of 813 exposed industrial workers using genetically modified enzymes."²⁵

So, it is documented in the literature, I experience it personally, and have heard from multiple other people — some people have digestive issues digesting the microbial and vegetable rennets. But do just fine with cheese made in a traditional manner with animal rennet. There are consequences when we try to outsmart nature!

Vitamin C was first isolated in 1928 and the chemical structure was identified in 1933.¹ It wasn't until the early 1970s that Dr. Linus Pauling recommended that the optimum daily intake of vitamin C was 2,000 milligrams (mg) and everyone should consume at least 200 mg to 250 mg per day.²

However, as "modern" medicine and the pharmaceutical industry ramped up the health care machine, vitamin C quickly fell out of favor as it is inexpensive, easy to administer and has very few side effects. In other words, as effective as vitamin C is in prevention and treatment, you can't make money prescribing or manufacturing it.

It's important to note that most mammals can make vitamin C in the body,³ but humans and guinea pigs must get it from their diet. Vitamin C is an essential factor in many enzyme reactions and several studies have shown that it's associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular conditions such as stroke, high blood pressure and coronary heart disease.

Vitamin C has always been vital to immune function, but research data also show that it plays an important role in the treatment of several health conditions, including cancer. Research suggests that IV vitamin C could extend survival,⁴ even in people with pancreatic⁵ and ovarian cancers,⁶ which are among the deadliest types of tumor growth.

Throughout the early years of the COVID pandemic, researchers and doctors who used vitamin C to help treat the infection were ridiculed and "modern" medicine organizations tried to sideline them. In the following three years, information about vitamin C continued to be shared but many suffered at the hands of Big Pharma.

Vitamin C — A Historical Perspective

Since vitamin C cannot be patented, it's a significant threat to the pharmaceutical industry and Western medicine's disease model of care. An Australian independent journalist, Just Call Me Jack from Totality of Evidence, published a deep-dive history of vitamin C,⁷ how it's been used and suppressed.

He intends to identify and capture significant data points throughout history that have led up to the COVID-19 pandemic and document what has happened since, including to "discover incremental changes through time, which on their own may seem laudable or benign, but watch them morph and put them together and the Totality of Evidence reveals a picture of ever-increasing centralized control and influence."⁸

Vitamin C has played a role in this influence.⁹ In 2002, Dr. Thomas E. Levy published the book "Vitamin C, Infectious Diseases, and Toxins: Curing the Incurable." By 2011, research and publications identifying ways in which vitamin C might be used were reaching the media. Dr. Suzanne Humphries published a special report on the treatment of whooping cough and Orthomolecular Medical News proposed intravenous vitamin C as a cancer therapy.

Vitamin C and Sepsis

In November 2013, "Clinical Guide to the Use of Vitamin C" was revised and republished. The book recorded the clinical experiences of Dr. Frederick R. Klenner, who used vitamin C in the treatment of polio, which I discuss below. In 2014, Alpha Fowler from Virginia Commonwealth University and his team published Phase 1 safety trials for the IV administration of vitamin C in patients with sepsis.

The goal was to move to Phase 2 trials and when Dr. Paul Marik, former chief of pulmonary and critical care medicine at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in East Virginia, was asked if he wanted to participate, he declined since vitamin C had already become his standard of care after the Phase 1 trial was published.¹⁰ Marik further developed the treatment protocol, adding thiamine and steroids, which was published in the journal Chest in 2017.¹¹

Some physicians joined Marik in using the early sepsis protocol while others dragged their heels, waiting for larger clinical trials despite knowing the treatment doesn't have significant side effects or make patients sicker.

In a 2018 review¹² of the protocol, the writers noted the reception for the treatment was mixed, which means your ability to receive this potentially life-saving treatment depends on the hospital where you end up. One of the anticipated larger studies was the Vitamin C, Thiamine and Steroids in Sepsis (VICTUS) study sponsored by Emory University and published in JAMA.¹³

Initially, the researchers, including Fowler, hoped for 2,000 participants but finalized the study with 501. In a presentation at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute, Fowler describes the positive effects of vitamin C on sepsis.¹⁴

However, the VICTUS paper came to a negative conclusion — that the treatment "did not significantly increase ventilator- and vasopressor-free days within 30 days"¹⁵ — because he was told he to make it negative. In this video¹⁶ of the presentation, you can see Fowler's reaction to the negative conclusion he and the team were asked to make.

He notes that $1 billion spent on clinical trials had not produced anything that enhanced survival, but in the VICTUS trial they "have shown an outcome difference." Fowler goes on to say:¹⁷

"I got an email from them [JAMA] yesterday and I shared this with Leslie today. They have asked us to state that this trial is negative and that we do not recommend it as a therapy. I am going to put a caveat into that 'until a large phase 3 trial is done.'"

In 2022, Marik's paper in the journal Chest came under attack in a series of unsubstantiated allegations of fraud from Australian doctor Kyle Sheldrick.¹⁸ The journal then launched a thorough review of the study and in April 2023, stated there were no methodological errors. Marik and the FLCCC followed up with a defamation suit against Sheldrick and, as a result, Sheldrick had to publicly acknowledge regret for questioning Marik's integrity.

Polio, Multiple Sclerosis and Vitamin C

One of the important threads that winds its way through polio and COVID history is vitamin C. During the polio epidemic of 1948 to 1955, many people avoided crowds and public gatherings¹⁹ in much the same way as during the COVID pandemic, without mandates to do so. In a biography on Klenner, Andrew Saul, assistant editor for the Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine, discussed some of the pioneering work by Klenner during the polio epidemic.²⁰

Klenner began with vitamin C treatments for patients with viral pneumonia, the details of which he presented in 1948 in the Journal of Southern Medicine and Surgery. Before the polio vaccine was released, Klenner treated polio patients with high doses of vitamin C administered intramuscularly.

In 1949, Klenner summarized his work with polio at the annual session of the American Medical Association. He was from Reidsville, North Carolina, and had no national credentials, research grants or experimental laboratory, but declared in front of this group of authorities that "When proper amounts are used, it [vitamin C] will destroy all virus organisms."

Although Klenner found the most effective route was intravenous, he had determined that intramuscular injections were satisfactory at a dose of 25,000 to 30,000 mg for an adult delivered at 350 mg per kilogram of body weight every two hours. He operated under the premise that the sicker the patient, the higher the dose should be.

He treated 60 cases of polio with the administration of massive doses of vitamin C and cured everyone. None of his patients were paralyzed and all were well within three days.

Levy discussed the remarkable case of a 5-year-old girl who already had lower limb paralysis for four days by the time Klenner treated her. She only received massive doses of vitamin C and massage. By day 19, the girl had a complete return of sensation and motor function and no long-term impairment. Yet, this simple, effective and inexpensive treatment was not well-published, and Klenner did not receive any acknowledgment for his results.

Saul also describes the vitamin-based cure for multiple sclerosis that Klenner went on to develop. Following the doctor's death in 1984, his son was implicated in the murders of five people, a tragedy that became the subject of a 1988 book and a 1994 made-for-TV movie. Yet, true to how the media treats the pharmaceutical industry, it was the son's crimes that were reported far more than the father's cures.²¹

Polio and COVID Narratives Follow a Similar Journey

Just Call Me Jack²² details the history of the polio vaccine, which is alarmingly similar to the release of the COVID-19 shot. By 1952, the public's fear of polio was at a peak, and all were focused on the hope of a vaccine. April 12, 1955, the Salk inactivated polio vaccine was declared "safe and effective" and on the same day, the U.S. licensed it for use. Earlier that year — just like COVID —the diagnostic criteria for polio was changed too. Just Call Me Jack asks: Sound familiar?

In their book "Dissolving Illusions," Dr. Suzanne Humphries and Roman Bystrianyk detail a history of medical interventions that have claimed to lengthen lifespan and prevent masses of deaths. The book demonstrates how these interventions were not responsible and an Amazon summary of the book asks the question: What else is being ignored and misinterpreted today?²³ Polio is one of the diseases and subsequent vaccines included in the book.

Before 1954, patients with short-term paralysis were diagnosed with polio but this criterion changed in 1955 when the vaccine was released. Instead, patients who had no residual paralysis after 60 days did not have polio. Just Call Me Jack quotes the book, writing "Thus, simply by changes in diagnostic criteria, the number of paralytic cases was predetermined to decrease in 1955-1997 whether or not any vaccine was used."

In other words, how a case was defined instantly changed both the incidence of the disease and the efficacy of the polio vaccine. April 2, 1999, the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, entitled "10 Great Public Health Achievements," said:²⁴

"During 1951–1954, an average of 16,316 paralytic polio cases and 1879 deaths from polio were reported each year. Polio incidence declined sharply following the introduction of vaccine to <1000 cases in 1962 and remained below 100 cases after that year."

The question you must ask yourself is whether the decline in polio was a result of the vaccine or because the criteria for diagnosing polio had changed? The Totality of Evidence reports that less than one month after the oral vaccine was introduced, the lab suspended production because children who were vaccinated were infected with poliomyelitis,²⁵ a concern that continues to this day.²⁶

Statistics from American Polio Surveillance Reports demonstrated that in 1957, two years after the vaccine had been released, nearly half the cases of paralytic polio in children were happening in vaccinated children, which led to the decision that the children needed more vaccines.²⁷

It is not difficult to see the similarities between the release of the COVID-19 vaccine, after which the number of deaths from COVID in the U.S. spiked, and the polio vaccine.

While public health officials initially told the public that the COVID clinical trials indicated the vaccine would prevent them from getting infected, prevent them from spreading the infection and that only one vaccine was required, those recommendations quickly changed when the genetic experiment was released to a far wider cohort than the one in which it was initially tested.

In other words, the shot was released to the world and the public health experts suddenly had much more disturbing data.

Vitamin C, Inflammation and Oxidative Stress

The antiviral capacity of vitamin C was successfully paired with quercetin during the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and included in the initial MATH+ protocol released in April 2020. I reported that in the early months of COVID-19, the FLCCC Alliance recommended a combination of vitamin C, quercetin, zinc, melatonin and vitamin D3 for prophylaxis.

To date, the preventive protocol for COVID, flu and RSV includes antimicrobial mouthwash, vitamin D, vitamin C, zinc and melatonin. June 19, 2020, Marik published the paper,²⁸ "Quercetin and Vitamin C: An Experimental, Synergistic Therapy for the Prevention and Treatment of SARS-CoV-2 Related Disease (COVID-19)" in the journal Frontiers in Immunology, noting:

"Ascorbic acid [vitamin C] … plays a role in stress response and has shown promising results when administered to the critically ill. Quercetin is a well-known flavonoid whose antiviral properties have been investigated in numerous studies.

There is evidence that vitamin C and quercetin co-administration exerts a synergistic antiviral action due to overlapping antiviral and immunomodulatory properties and the capacity of ascorbate to recycle quercetin, increasing its efficacy. Safe, cheap interventions which have a sound biological rationale should be prioritized for experimental use in the current context of a global health pandemic."

However, as many have noted during the COVID pandemic, the use of "Safe, cheap interventions which have a sound biological rationale" has not been prioritized, but rather has been vilified. Much of the benefit from vitamin C is how it helps to mediate inflammation and oxidative stress.

This was demonstrated in a 2022 study,²⁹ which sought to determine how vitamin C could help individuals with cystic fibrosis. The data showed that vitamin C supplementation in individuals with advanced inflammatory disease could help increase plasma vitamin E and lower the inflammatory response.

Vitamin C also plays a significant role in holistic cancer treatment as Dr. Nathan Goodyear and I discussed in a 2022 interview.³⁰ In this area, Western medicine also strove to suppress information since vitamin C is inexpensive and cannot be patented.

As I said, Linus Pauling originally demonstrated that intravenous vitamin C could improve cancer survival, but when Mayo Clinic physicians attempted to reproduce the results without using IV administration, they found no benefit.

Put Legal Strategies in Place Before You Get Sick

The history of vitamin C is replete with public health experts who count the benefits of vitamin C as preventive but continue to push Big Pharma solutions in the face of infection or disease, not the least of whom is former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director, Dr. Anthony Fauci, who was interviewed in 2016 in the Washingtonian.³¹

When asked how do you avoid getting sick when you're around sick people all day, he replied: "I take vitamin C. It can enhance your body's defense against microbes. I take 1,000 milligrams a day. Many people also do not get enough vitamin D, which affects a lot of body functions, so that would be helpful, too."

During the COVID pandemic, Laura Bartlett and Greta Crawford founded an organization to help people address the forced treatments they were receiving when hospitalized. I recently posted an article detailing the importance of niacinamide (aka, nicotinamide, a form of vitamin B3 or niacin) for healthy mitochondrial function and cellular energy production, and how it can help reverse obesity and leaky gut, and prevent neurodegeneration, kidney disease and heart failure. Here, I'll review several additional conditions that can be prevented and/or treated with this inexpensive and readily available supplement.

More Niacinamide Is NOT Better, There's a Goldilocks' Dose

Keep in mind that the dosages used in the research studies discussed below do vary widely, but as a rule, I only recommend taking small doses of 50 milligrams of niacinamide three times a day.

This dosage has been shown to optimize energy metabolism and boost NAD+ levels, which are foundational for everything else to work. It can be taken four times a day if you space them out. Take a dose as soon as you get up, before going to bed, and twice evenly spaced between those times.

The problem with taking too much vitamin B3, whether in the form of niacin or niacinamide, is that it might backfire and contribute to cardiovascular disease as documented by the Cleveland Clinic. ZeroHedge reports:¹

"The new study out of the Cleveland Clinic, published in Nature Medicine,² determined there is a delicate balance between too much niacin and just enough — a sort of Goldilocks effect … [As] observed by the Cleveland Clinic team, too much niacin creates a byproduct known as 4PY.

This product circulates within the bloodstream and is associated with a higher risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiac events. Additionally, 4PY was shown in preclinical studies to trigger vascular inflammation, damaging blood vessels and eventually leading to atherosclerosis.

The researchers discovered this by examining data from 1,162 patients who had experienced major cardiovascular events. Just under half of the patients (442) were female. Initially, the team sought common markers that could lead to cardiovascular events. The most common factor within the pool of patients was excess levels of niacin.

The findings led to additional studies to validate the initial research. Both cohort studies, conducted in the United States and Europe, confirmed that niacin breakdown predicted an individual's future risk of heart attack, stroke, and death from cardiovascular disease."

Niacinamide Limits Damage From PUFA Peroxidation

With that caveat out of the way, let's take a look at some of the health benefits associated with niacinamide supplementation, starting with its ability to ameliorate damage caused by linoleic acid (LA) consumption.

One of the most toxic metabolic byproducts of LA is 4 HNE, a toxic aldehyde that appears to play a causative role in heart failure.³ Fortunately, there is an enzyme system called aldehyde dehydrogenases that deactivates 4 HNE. The best way to increase the activity of this enzyme system is to make sure you have sufficient NAD+, and the most efficient way to optimize your NAD+ level is to make sure you're getting 50 mg of niacinamide three times a day.

Raise Your Testosterone Naturally With Niacinamide

Niacinamide can be used to treat problems associated with declining testosterone levels due to aging, as demonstrated in a February 2022 Nature Aging study.⁴ This study also involved eye health, specifically evaporative dry eye disease, but with a focus on the effects of androgens.

They found that by raising NAD+, local testosterone distribution in the meibomian gland in the eyelids, which produces oil to prevent the evaporation of tears, was improved. As a result, age-related atrophy of the gland was reduced, which alleviated the dry eye condition. In this case, they used a 5% solution of the NAD+ precursors nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) or nicotinamide riboside (NR). The two regimens assessed were as follows:

• Chronic — 2 mg NAD+ precursor four times a day in each eye for 90 days.
• Acute — 5 mg NAD+ precursor six times a day in each eye for 14 days.

However, as noted by biohacker Georgi Dinkov,⁵ plain niacinamide has been shown to be just as effective as NMN and NR for raising NAD+, so there's no reason why it wouldn't work as well. Moreover, these findings are also applicable for other tissues and organs affected by declining testosterone, not just your eyes.

It confirms that niacinamide is a necessary cofactor to address the nearly universal decline in testosterone in both males and females, so this is yet another reason that most people need it. Dinkov writes:⁶

"… the findings that androgen (in this case, testosterone) deficiency seen almost universally with advancing age is apparently due primarily to deficiency of the co-factor NAD+, which can apparently be remediated by supplementing NAD+ precursors such as niacinamide.

It appears that the rate-limiting step for androgen (testosterone) synthesis is the enzyme 3b-HSD, for which NAD+ is the main cofactor. Thus, a decline in NAD+ seen in aging (and disease) leads to decline in 3b-HSD activity and thus reduced androgen (testosterone) levels.

Conversely, the study found that restoring NAD+ levels almost fully remediated the reduced function of 3b-HSD, the androgen (testosterone deficiency), and thus was basically curative for the specific condition (dry-eye) the study investigated …

As far as the systemic steroidogenic deficiency seen with aging that I mentioned earlier, oral dosing of an NAD+ precursor such as niacinamide would likely be needed, and human studies have demonstrated that daily doses in the 300 mg-500 mg daily range optimally stimulate NAD+ synthesis. (It would be better to start with 50 mg three times a day (150 mg) and increase if necessary.)

While most studies found that higher daily oral doses are unable to further raise NAD+ levels through the precursor pathway, higher doses of niacinamide specifically have been shown to inhibit the enzyme PARP-1, which is a 'consumer' of NAD+ and inhibiting it also raises NAD+ levels.

So, experimenting with the niacinamide with doses in the 500mg-1,500mg daily range would probably identify an optimal daily dose regimen for most people looking to increase steroidogenesis, especially if precursors such as pregnenolone and/or DHEA are taken as well."

To address declining testosterone, I recommend taking:

• 50 mg of niacinamide three times a day
• 5 mg to 10 mg of DHEA orally once a day
• 50 mg of oral pregnenolone once a day

Ideally, take the hormone supplements DHEA and pregnenolone with a saturated fat, like a teaspoon of butter, to make sure they bypass metabolism in the liver, which will radically decrease their effectiveness.

Niacinamide Protects Against Stress

Another phenomenally important human study^7,8,9 confirms that niacinamide lowers cortisol by increasing NAD+. NAD+ is the cofactor for an enzyme called 11b-HSD2, which deactivates cortisol by turning it into cortisone. So, increasing NAD+ with niacinamide will help lower cortisol, and this can benefit just about everyone, seeing how most people are plagued by stress and have elevated cortisol, which in turn drives inflammation and inhibits fat loss.

Raising NAD+ with niacinamide supplementation was also shown to improve glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. It also increased ATP levels, which is your cellular energy currency. As such, niacinamide may be one of the most important supplements you can take.

Importantly, this study used plain niacinamide rather than the more expensive NMN or NR, so we don't have to infer these benefits. They took place using plain niacinamide and D-ribose. The dosages used were 240 mg of niacinamide twice a day, and 1,280 mg of D-ribose twice a day, for one week.

Anticancer Effects

Niacinamide can also help prevent and treat cancer. As noted in one 2022 study in Nature Metabolism,^10,11 limiting fat availability to cancer cells may be one of the keys to curing cancer. NAD+ also plays an important role, and niacinamide raises NAD+:

"Production of oxidized biomass, which requires regeneration of the cofactor NAD+, can be a proliferation bottleneck that is influenced by environmental conditions … Here, we show that de novo lipid biosynthesis can impose a substantial NAD+ consumption cost in proliferating cancer cells.

When electron acceptors are limited, environmental lipids become crucial for proliferation because NAD+ is required to generate precursors for fatty acid biosynthesis. We find that both oxidative and even net reductive pathways for lipogenic citrate synthesis are gated by reactions that depend on NAD+ availability."

An earlier study,¹² published in 2020, found that niacin (vitamin B3) could control the growth of brain tumors by reactivating myeloid cells (a type of bone marrow cell). As explained by the authors:

"Although innate immune cells are typically present inside tumors, they often have an inactive phenotype such that they are ineffective at killing the cancer cells or even promote tumor growth. Sarkar et. al. discovered that it may be possible to reprogram these cells to a more active type using niacin (vitamin B3).

The authors showed that niacin-exposed monocytes can inhibit the growth of brain tumor-initiating cells. Moreover, niacin treatment of intracranial mouse models of glioblastoma increased monocyte and macrophage infiltration into the tumors, stimulated antitumor immune responses, and extended the animals' survival …"

Here, a mere 7 mg of niacin per kilo of bodyweight per day halted the growth of brain tumors and nearly doubled survival times. The niacin group also survived longer than those receiving chemotherapy alone. While this study used niacin, niacinamide would work just as well. Tying the results back to the study above, Dinkov notes:¹³

"The proposed mechanism of action was immune system activation. I, personally, do not buy this explanation as a main mechanism of action. IMHO vitamin B3's known effects on inhibiting lipolysis … and promoting the oxidation of glucose are probably more important for inhibiting the tumor growth and prolonging survival."

Antiaging Effects

Niacinamide and other B vitamins also have important antiaging effects. In a December 2021 article, Dinkov reviewed a 2011 study¹⁴ that suggests fasting can speed up aging by depleting your energy reserves, and that vitamin B2 has the opposite effect and slows the aging process. Commenting on this finding, Dinkov wrote:¹⁵

"[This is] a great study that not only suggests a dirt cheap and widely available option for retarding aging, but once again demonstrates that stress (e.g. fasting) directly causes aging by depleting/blocking OXPHOS [oxidative phosphorylation, the metabolic pathway cells use to oxidize nutrients, thereby releasing chemical energy to produce ATP], and the key mechanism for stopping/reversing aging is by restoring energy production.

The proposed 'senolytic' in this study is the humble vitamin B2, also known as riboflavin. Vitamin B2 is the precursor for FAD [flavin adenine dinucleotide] — a key coenzyme, responsible for about 20% of the energy produced in the OXPHOS process. Btw, the other 80% are controlled by NAD — a molecule synthesized endogenously from the precursor niacinamide.

There has been an explosion in publications over the last decade touting NAD as the cure to virtually every disease out there, and many of those claims are well-backed by evidence. While there are … proprietary NAD precursors such as nicotinamide riboside and nicotinamide mononucleotide, plain old niacinamide works just as well and is drastically cheaper.

Niacin is another NAD precursor but [it] increases histamine and serotonin, and still has to be converted into niacinamide before it can end up as NAD. So, no reason to take anything else but niacinamide.

Doing so, raises the NAD/NADH ratio, shifts the cell redox state towards oxidation (as opposed to reduction), and the ample energy produced by the cell can be used for all types of maintenance 'work' the cells need to perform in order to stay healthy, prevent aging, etc …

[V]itamin B2 has a similar metabolic role as well. It is a precursor to the co-factor FAD and taking B2 raises FAD and thus the FAD/FADH ratio, which facilitates electron flow through the electron chain complexes I&II. Conversely, having insufficient levels of FAD (and/or low FAD/FADH ratio) can effectively block the ETC [electron transport chain].

This crucial role of FAD in the ETC demonstrates why excessive fatty acid oxidation (FAO) is harmful. Namely, FAD is consumed in the process of beta-oxidation of fatty acids and as such excessive FAO can consume too much FAD, drop the FAD/FADH ratio, and thus block electron flow through ETC.

This reduction/blockade of ETC is exactly what is seen in most chronic, degenerative diseases, but especially in conditions such as cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, autoimmune conditions, etc.

Well, the [Physiology] study … found that this reduction of mitochondrial activity (ETC) is exactly what triggers the senescence process, and activating mitochondria (specifically ETC II) by supplementing vitamin B2 prevented cellular aging. Here is the actual explanation from the study authors:

'… Cells under stress produce SLC52A1, and increase their absorption of vitamin B2 from outside the cell. Once inside the cell, the vitamin B2 is converted into FAD and increases mitochondrial energy production by becoming a coenzyme of mitochondrial respiratory chain complex II. As a result of the AMPK and p53 (which induce cellular senescence) are inactive, therefore stress-mediated cellular senescence is suppressed.'"

Niacinamide for Liver Disease

Niacinamide may also be valuable in the treatment of both alcoholic liver disease and nonalcoholic liver disease (NAFLD). By now, you can probably guess why. It's because low NAD is involved in the disease process.

A study^16,17 published in 2016 showed that chronic alcohol bingeing injures your liver and other organs by reducing NAD+, which is a required cofactor for important enzymes and mitochondrial renewal.

In short, a decline in the NAD/NADH ratio (your redox status) is a main driver of alcohol-related pathologies, and not just in your liver but in all organs. The answer is to increase NAD+, which is effectively done using niacinamide. According to Dinkov, niacinamide also works synergistically with methylene blue:¹⁸

"Both [niacinamide and methylene blue] can raise the NAD/NADH ratio quite robustly on their own, but in combination are synergistic and may allow for much lower doses to achieve the same effects.

People have sent me emails showing their blood tests demonstrated the same increase in NAD/NADH from a combination of 1mg MB [methylene blue] and 250 mg niacinamide as using 5mg+ MB or 750mg-1,000mg niacinamide separately."

Related to this is the importance of eating the correct fats. You want to increase your saturated fat and avoid PUFAs, especially linoleic acid (LA), as PUFAS are stored and accumulated whereas saturated fats are burned for energy.^19,20 It can take up to seven years to clear LA from your body due to its long half-life. In the meantime, you need to be careful about not pushing the LA out too rapidly through fasting, low-carb diets or vigorous exercise.

The accumulation of PUFAs in your cells are, I believe, one of the greatest contributors to chronic and degenerative diseases of all kinds, as they wreak havoc with your cellular machinery and impair mitochondrial function (and hence reduce energy production). Niacinamide can be helpful while you're clearing stored PUFAs from your cells, as it's an anti-lipolytic agent.

Niacinamide for Alzheimer's Disease

Niacinamide is required for healthy metabolism and, as such, it can also be useful in early Alzheimer's treatment.²¹ Combining it with methylene blue may boost benefits even further, as they work synergistically, and methylene blue alone has been shown to stop the progression of Alzheimer's.²²

Increasing the carbs only seems to work when your fat intake is below 35% of your total daily carbs. If it is higher, the Randle cycle will prevent the extra carbs from being metabolized in the mitochondria and will shuttle them to glycolysis which increases lactic acid and will likely worsen one's health.

Thiamine, the B1 mentioned in the study, is a cofactor for the enzyme that converts the glucose metabolite pyruvate into acetyl-CoA, which is what is pushed into the mitochondria to be burned as fuel. Taking niacinamide (vitamin B3) will help three of the complexes in the mitochondria work and vitamin B2, riboflavin, will help one complex to produce the ATP, so using all three would be ideal.

Niacinamide is the only one that appears to benefit from lowering the dosing to 50 mg three times a day. As reported by Dinkov:²³

"[A 2019] study²⁴ demonstrated that increasing levels of acetyl-CoA (the starting intermediate of the Krebs cycle), even at a stage of very advanced aging/AD [Alzheimer's disease], can reverse aspects of both pathologies.

While the study used patented compounds, the same effects can be achieved by ensuring a steady supply of dietary carbs combined with increasing the function of pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH). Increasing the activity of PDH can be achieved by supplementing with vitamin B1 (a cofactor of PDH), keeping the NAD/NADH ratio as high as possible and keeping fatty acid oxidation (FAO) down …

[T]hese approaches have been successfully tested in many animal models and one of the molecules that works through the latter two mechanisms is niacinamide. In fact, there is a human clinical trial²⁵ [completed in August 2022] with 3 grams of niacinamide daily for treating AD, and though the results have not been published yet the leaked information suggests highly positive results. Methylene blue (MB) can do the same …"

Niacinamide and COVID-19

As it turns out, raising NAD+ appears to be therapeutic for COVID infection as well.²⁶ The reason for this is because SARS-CoV-2 infection dysregulates NAD synthesis and the NAD metabolome, which is a component of your innate immunity.

As noted by Dinkov, this study again demonstrates "the crucial role energy plays even in 'non-metabolic' diseases such as viral infections." Indeed, without energy your body cannot defend itself against infection and disease, and since NAD+ is such a crucial component of energy production, it makes perfect sense that having higher NAD levels will make you more resilient against viral infections. The answer again, then, is niacinamide, with or without methylene blue.

By now, you should have a good idea about how important niacinamide is for your health, and why I think it's one of the most important supplements you can take on a daily basis.

Niacinamide Helps Treat Glaucoma

Research^27,28 published in November 2021 reported that patients with established glaucoma scored significantly higher on visual field tests after taking 3 grams of niacinamide in combination with 3 grams of (calcium) pyruvate daily for about two months. As reported by the authors:

"Given the decrease in NAD with aging, which may render retinal neurons more vulnerable to disease-related insults, the investigators hypothesized that increasing NAD may support the mitochondrial activity of RGCs and decrease their susceptibility to glaucoma.

In a rat model of ocular hypertension, retinal and optic nerve NAD declined as a function of IOP, while nicotinamide was neuroprotective at a range of doses. In addition, nicotinamide has been shown to be low in the sera of patients with primary open-angle glaucoma. These data further support a role for NAD in glaucoma.

Furthermore, Harder et al reported that an IOP-mediated decrease in retinal pyruvate levels was associated with dysregulated glucose metabolism prior to detectable optic nerve degeneration in metabolic studies of DBA/2J mice.

They also found that oral supplementation with pyruvate protected both rat and mouse models of glaucoma from neurodegeneration, with a combination of nicotinamide and pyruvate being the most protective in the chronic mouse model …

Given the significant neuroprotective effects observed in recent studies, the similarities in cellular biology of NAD+ and pyruvate pathways between mice and humans, as well as the safety profile of these supplements, we investigated the effect of nicotinamide and pyruvate on the visual function of patients with treated manifest glaucoma …

[R]esults suggest that treatment with nicotinamide and pyruvate tripled the likelihood of improvement of test locations relative to placebo."

If you have glaucoma and want to give niacinamide a try, I recommend limiting your dose to 50 mg three times a day, before increasing to 3 grams a day, which I believe is excessive.

The toxic spike protein produced in your body if you receive a COVID-19 shot is not the only health concern to be aware of. Pfizer's mRNA COVID-19 shots also instruct cells to produce additional "off-target" proteins that could pose significant health risks.

The finding was revealed by a team of U.K. researchers¹ who found a "glitch" occurred due to the way the COVID-19 shots were genetically modified. As a result, unwanted proteins are produced, with unknown effects — a phenomenon that should have been detected long before the experimental shots were given to millions of people.

Modified mRNA in COVID-19 Shots Is 'Prone to Reading Errors'

Ribosomes decode mRNA in cells, but about 8% of the time those in COVID-19 shots may misread the coded instructions, Maryanne Demasi, Ph.D., a former medical scientist with the University of Adelaide and former reporter for ABC News in Australia, explains:²

"The researchers say that ribosomes, which are responsible for decoding the mRNA in cells, can slip and misread the coded instructions about 8% of the time — known as 'ribosomal frameshifting.' They say the 'glitch' has to do with how the mRNA in the vaccine has been genetically modified.

Unlike naturally-occurring mRNA, the mRNA that exists in the vaccines has had a 'uridine' base replaced with a 'N1-methyl pseudouridine' (to stabilize it) and unfortunately, has made it prone to reading errors."

In May 2021, I interviewed Stephanie Seneff, Ph.D., a senior research scientist at MIT for over five decades, about the likely hazards of replacing the uracil in the RNA used in the COVID shots with synthetic methylpseudouridine.³ This process of substituting letters in the genetic code is known as codon optimization, which is known to be problematic.

At the time, Seneff predicted the shots would cause a rise in prion, autoimmune and neurodegenerative diseases and, at younger ages, blood disorders and heart failure. One of the primary reasons for this is because they genetically manipulated the RNA in the shots with synthetic methylpseudouridine, which enhances RNA stability by inhibiting its breakdown.

Now, researchers at Cambridge University and the Universities of Kent, Oxford and Liverpool, have discovered⁴ that the use of methylpseudouridine results in a high rate of ribosomal "frameshifting," which causes your cells to produce off-target proteins with unknown effects. In an interview with Demasi, research scientist David Wiseman explained the concerning findings:⁵

"They found the Pfizer vaccine can cause your cells to make proteins that they are not supposed to make — you end up with what I call 'Pfrankenstein proteins.' … Imagine the following three-letter English words ABE DAN TEA TON ERA TWO — the letters are like the code on the mRNA. Now instead of starting to read the sentence at the letter 'A' of the first word, you frameshift to the next letter — the letter 'B.'

That means that all the other letters are shifted to the left and it will give you a new sentence with three-letter words BED ANT EAT ONE RAT etcetera. So, the new words have a completely different meaning from the original words. This is what happened in the body of some people vaccinated with Pfizer's product. New unwanted 'off-target' proteins were produced, that actually led to an 'off-target' immune response."

Your Body Is Being Hijacked to Produce 'Pfrankenstein' Proteins

According to the study, off-target cellular immune responses occur in 25% to 33% of those who have received Pfizer's COVID-19 shot. "It means their lymphocytes had seen the proteins before — their immune system had already been primed from a prior exposure, presumably after that person had received the mRNA vaccine," Wiseman said.⁶

The study authors stated there were no adverse outcomes related to the "frameshifted products," and the media has similarly downplayed any risk of harm. However, molecular virologist David Speicher Ph.D., told Trial Site News reporter Sonia Elijah:⁷

"Whenever our cells create an abundance of unintended proteins or prevent production of appropriate proteins it could lead to an unintended immune response with a huge potential to cause harm."

Wiseman was also clear in his explanation that the "Pfrankenstein" proteins could potentially lead to health problems, including autoimmune conditions or endocrine disruption. He told Demasi:⁸

"What you have to realize is that your body is being hijacked, not just to produce spike protein, but also to produce other, what I call, 'Pfrankenstein' proteins that are completely uncharacterized. We don't know what they are, what they do, for how long they're made or how long they last in the body, and we have no idea what their toxicity is.

From the Nature paper however, we do know that these unwanted proteins elicit immune reactions in the body.

… These researchers showed that frameshifting could create chimeric proteins. Basically, as the ribosome reads the code for the spike protein, it may slip in the middle of reading the code. So, the first half is spike protein, and the second half is a Pfrankenstein protein.

Now, just imagine one half can still attach to the ACE2 receptor on cells but on the other end, you've got this Pfrankenstein protein dangling outside of the cells. Your immune system is going to destroy the cell because it looks foreign, and now you've got something that looks like an autoimmune condition.

Or you could have a protein that turns out to be not necessarily identical, but sufficiently similar to another protein in our body like a hormone and it ends up mimicking the hormone's activity and disturbing your endocrine system."

Reading Errors Could Be Reduced — So Why Weren't They?

While claiming that frameshifted products weren't harmful, the Nature study authors stated it was important for future mRNA technologies to reduce ribosome frameshifting events. They suggested that they could identify the garbled sites or sequences and alter the mRNA sequence to reduce such effects in the future.⁹

But as Wiseman pointed out, this should have been done already. "This work should've been done by the vaccine manufacturers and by the regulators before the product was authorized and given to billions of people. They've asked people to take a vaccine, and put it into children and they have no clue what is happening inside the body."¹⁰

Further, the study authors are basing their assessment that there's no risk posed by these 'Pfrankenstein proteins' on just 21 people. Wiseman continued to Demasi:¹¹

"The authors wrote, '… there is no evidence that frameshifted products in humans generated from BNT162b2 vaccination are associated with adverse outcomes.' But they only looked at 21 people who received Pfizer's vaccine, so you cannot call that a serious safety study by any stretch of the imagination.

And how did they select these people? The volunteers were part of another government funded study and had not reported undue effects from vaccination. Since they did not study subjects who had reported adverse vaccine effects, the selection of participants was probably biased.

… What they're trying to say now is that there have been no problems identified in 21 people, but in the future there may be problems, so we should just keep studying it. Are you kidding me? What they're saying is that 'we will inject you first and ask safety questions later.' It's not good enough."

It's worth noting that two of the researchers on the team have a pending patent application for mRNA technology,¹² so they certainly have reason to downplay the problem and propose all we need to do is a bit of tweaking and all will be well moving forward.

Is Foreign DNA Integrating Into Human Cells?

Along with Pfizer's Pfrankenstein proteins, there's potential that DNA integration from COVID-19 shots could pose a risk to the human genome. Tucker Carlson spoke with Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo, who has called for an end to the use of COVID-19 mRNA shots, citing concerns about DNA fragments in the products.¹³

"Could foreign DNA enter your cells through the mRNA COVID vax and change your DNA — and humanity itself — forever? Sounds nutty. It's not," Carlson tweeted. "Absolutely that could happen," says Dr. Joseph Ladapo, the surgeon general of Florida.¹⁴ In a December 6, 2023, letter sent to the U.S. FDA and CDC, Ladapo outlined findings showing the presence of lipid nanoparticle complexes and simian virus 40 (SV40) promoter/enhancer DNA.

While there are limits on how much DNA can be in a vaccine due to concern over DNA integration, the guidelines don't consider lipid nanoparticles and other factors in COVID-19 shots that could enhance how much DNA can enter a cell.

"Lipid nanoparticles are an efficient vehicle for delivery of the mRNA in the COVID-19 vaccines into human cells and may therefore be an equally efficient vehicle for delivering contaminant DNA into human cells. The presence of SV40 promoter/enhancer DNA may also pose a unique and heightened risk of DNA integration into human cells," according to a news release from the Florida Department of Health (DOH).¹⁵

In a 2023 preprint study, microbiologist Kevin McKernan — a former researcher and team leader for the MIT Human Genome project¹⁶ — and colleagues assessed the nucleic acid composition of four expired vials of the Moderna and Pfizer mRNA shots. "DNA contamination that exceeds the European Medicines Agency (EMA) 330ng/mg requirement and the FDAs 10ng/dose requirements" was found.¹⁷

So, in addition to the spike protein and mRNA in COVID-19 shots, McKernan's team discovered SV40 promoters that, for decades, have been suspected of causing cancer in humans.¹⁸ Further, according to the Florida DOH, the FDA's own 2007 guidance states:¹⁹

• "DNA integration could theoretically impact a human's oncogenes – the genes which can transform a healthy cell into a cancerous cell.
• DNA integration may result in chromosomal instability.
• The Guidance for Industry discusses biodistribution of DNA vaccines and how such integration could affect unintended parts of the body including blood, heart, brain, liver, kidney, bone marrow, ovaries/testes, lung, draining lymph nodes, spleen, the site of administration and subcutis at injection site."

The FDA responded to Ladapo's letter December 14, 2023, but provided no evidence that appropriate DNA integration assessments had been conducted. Ladapo called for a halt in their use as a result.²⁰ "It starts at crazy but it ends at somewhere else that someone could be just so nonchalant and, frankly, willy-nilly, with something as precious and as sacred as our human DNA," Ladapo told Carlson.²¹

Help for Those Suffering From COVID-19 Shot Injuries

If you're suffering from side effects of a COVID-19 shot, your first order of business is to eliminate the spike protein — and/or any aberrant off-target protein — that your body is producing. Two remedies shown to bind to and facilitate the removal of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein are hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin. It's unknown whether these drugs will work on off-target proteins as well, but it probably wouldn't hurt to try.

The Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC) has developed a post-vaccine treatment protocol called I-RECOVER. The protocol is continuously updated as more data become available, so your best bet is to download the latest version straight from the FLCCC website at covid19criticalcare.com.²²

The World Council for Health (WCH), a worldwide coalition of health-focused organizations and civil society groups, has also released a spike protein detox guide,²³ which provides straightforward steps you can take to potentially lessen the effects of toxic spike protein that may be helpful. Another option is sauna therapy, which can also help eliminate toxic and misfolded proteins by stimulating autophagy.²⁴

In this interview, Dr. Suzanne Humphries discusses the recent update to her classic book, "Dissolving Illusions: Disease, Vaccines, and the Forgotten History," published in 2013. "Dissolving Illusions" is one of my favorite books on vaccines, so I was honored to write the foreword for this 10th anniversary edition.

The 'Safe and Effective' Narrative Is a Carefully Fabricated Illusion

That word, "illusions," is an apt one, because the vaccine industry really is all about promoting illusions. They intentionally deceive us about the risks and benefits of vaccines in order to make a profit, with complete disregard for human suffering.

"What I've learned over 15 years of really immersing myself in this is that it's the same old story over and over and over again," Humphries says. "Sometimes people ask me, 'What is the driver? Why do they do this?' My answer is that I cannot completely answer why. Yes, certainly, there's greed involved, especially today, but I think there's probably some more sinister operations at play.

The one thing we can say is that for 225 years, the same story has been repeated over and over again, which is that vaccines come out, and they make previous diseases that were not really very problematic worse. The vaccines cause problems.

The death rates were always coming down for any disease before any therapy came in at all, whether it's an antibiotic or a vaccine … Trying to help humans live better, longer lives, to strengthen their bodies and their resilience, that's always been the key.

Yet at the same time, there's been this dampening force over humanity, contaminating the blood of humanity with animal products and disease, viruses and spores and things that you can't even imagine. They used to call the smallpox vaccine 'pure lymph,' but it was pus. It's a horror story. It's always been a horror story. So, to me, COVID was just another day at the office."

Malicious Acts

In the interview, Humphries recounts the impetus behind the book. She first became aware that vaccines might be problematic when she was working as a nephrologist in northern Maine.

After a three-years-long struggle with the hospital administration, who refused to listen to any of her concerns, she finally got out, paid off her student loans and moved into a pop-up camper on a friend's farm in Virginia, where she wrote the first edition of "Dissolving Illusions," together with Roman Bystrianyk, who had been researching the history of disease and vaccines since 1998.

She spent the next seven years giving lectures around the world, and got her fair share of death threats. The brake line on her car was sabotaged, someone shot a crossbow arrow into the ground in front of her front door, and an obvious nut job detailed how he intended to torture and kill her in horrible ways. All for speaking out about the hazards of vaccines and the lies that keep the vaccine industry going.

"I think it's because when you're someone that has credibility — I was considered a top doctor in Maine, as a nephrologist — and comes out saying what I was saying, it is a big threat. It's not necessarily that I was some important person, but it was where I came from,"she says.

CDC Has Been Hiding Vaccine Injuries for Years

Humphries also recounts how the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been hiding vaccine injuries by deleting reports filed.

"I started reporting these vaccine injuries to the CDC. I would report them because my colleagues around me wouldn't. But then they started bringing them to me, going 'Here's another one, Suzanne. Here's another one.' Each time I would report one, I would get a call from the CDC saying, 'OK, someone else will be calling you,' and then I'd get another call.

It was just a creepy, weird thing. Then after six months, I get a call from the main representative of the CDC, this doctor, and we had a flat out fight on the phone. He said to me, 'What happened to you that you think all these vaccines are causing so many problems?'

I'm like, 'What happened to me is that I've been watching it happen, and then you're giving this live flu vaccine to children when the insert tells you exactly the symptoms you're going to get, which is the flu.' He's like, 'Well, that's my specialty and that absolutely doesn't happen.' I said, 'Well, I think we're going to have to agree to disagree on that.' He hung up on me, and that was the last I ever heard of him.

And guess what? They never made it to the VAERS database. They were deleted. I had the actual vaccine lot numbers. Everything was meticulously documented in these reports."

What's in the 'Dissolving Illusions' Update?

One of the silver linings of the COVID mass injection campaign is that it has awakened many to the notion that vaccines aren't all they're cracked up to be. The COVID shots are so toxic, even though the injuries are being swept under the carpet like never before, there are just so many of them that the carnage cannot be hidden. And, because government and health authorities refuse to acknowledge the problem, many are now questioning all vaccines, not just the COVID shot.

"It's a dark night of the soul when you wake up to it," Humphries says. "Your whole world does get a bit shattered, because you start to realize that the entire medical system is corrupt and backwards and that there's probably better ways to do just about everything.

And you know what? For 225 years, doctors have been saying that, and for 225 years, those doctors have been ignored. That's one of the reasons we wrote the second book, 'The Dissolving Illusions Companion book.'

It's another huge book, about 600 pages, with 230-something doctors giving different quotes about what they saw, boots on the ground, for smallpox vaccines to the toxoid vaccines to scarlet fever, typhoid, and the worsening of all diseases that occurred after they gave vaccines.

Some of them basically come out and say, 'The entire profession of medicine is a complete waste of time. [They're doing] damage to humanity. It would be better if all the doctors just were taken off the Earth and for humanity to do nothing.'

What we've done over the past 10 years is, in my travels, I would have to do more research to present different diseases. I would go one place and they say, 'We want to hear about tetanus,' or they want to hear more about whooping cough. More medical literature has also come out. So, we've added basically another book to 'Dissolving Illusions.'

We've expanded it by 200 pages. We've added on a chapter on tuberculosis, which was called the White Plague. There's an extra addition to the smallpox chapter. I've added about 20 or 30 new pages to the pertussis chapter. There is a chapter on deadly medicine, the practices from the early 1800s through to the 1940s that were provably causing lots of harm.

Roman came up with more charts. There's a follow-up on the polio chapter. Dr. Jacob Puliyel, who lives in India, wrote the papers on the oral polio vaccines, how they were causing paralysis in children. We added those follow-up papers, as well as a lot of other data that we left out of the original chapter to try to save space, but it's so important, it really needs to be put out there."

The Polio Illusion

Based on the available science, Humphries is convinced that one of the reasons the polio vaccine doesn't work is because polio isn't caused by an infectious virus. It's caused by toxins. Poliovirus is a commensal virus that is completely harmless in the absence of toxic onslaught.

"We have to distinguish poliovirus from poliomyelitis," Humphries explains. "Poliomyelitis is when there's damage to a certain part of the spinal cord or the brain stem in the gray matter and causes paralysis in one or more muscle groups. It can cause paralysis to nerves that supply the diaphragm, which is why the iron lung was brought in.

[Poliomyelitis] was always attributed to a virus, which is really interesting when you consider that the early researchers were trying to infect monkeys with poliovirus and they couldn't infect them. They stuck it up their noses. They would inject it into their bodies. They couldn't cause paralysis in these monkeys until they injected matter from other paralyzed humans or animals into their brains.

That's what it took to actually paralyze them. It's a commensal virus. Polio is a commensal virus that has existed from time immemorial. When researchers went down to the Brazilian rainforest and found the Xavante Indians and convinced them to give them some blood samples and fecal samples, they found that just about 100% of these native people were colonized with polio, and there was no history of paralysis anywhere in the tribes.

Nobody talked about people that couldn't breathe. They were fetchingly healthy. Same happened in the Philippines. When you look at the people living close to the earth, living healthy lives, and then comes the … [Western] lifestyle habits of sugar, tobacco, medicines that contain mercury, lead, arsenic and vaccinations spreading syphilis.

Latent syphilis gives you poliomyelitis. Lead can give you poliomyelitis. Arsenic is probably the most interesting, because not only does it clinically give you the exact scenario of poliomyelitis, but even in the spinal cord, it's exactly the same. That's been proven. I'm not a virus denier. There is actual virus that is commensal."

Are Viruses Real?

By now, you've probably heard the theory that there are no viruses, period. That the entire field of virology is a hoax, and that what we perceive as viruses are merely a type of cellular debris being shed when your body is trying to detox. Having delved deep into the science of infectious disease, Humphries disagrees with this theory. Viruses do exist. The question is whether they're as dangerous as they're made out to be. Humphries comments:

"You get chickenpox one time and you're immune to it forever. You can be exposed to it over and over again and you don't get it. Well, if it's a detox, like they say, why doesn't it carry on? I'm still as polluted as I probably was 10 years ago. I'm not getting chickenpox over and over again. I got it one time.

Why do these children that are nonimmune get it? … When you look at it that way, it's like, 'Come on, people. These viruses are all different. They have different manifestations.' Influenza virus is a completely different entity.

The measles virus hasn't really shifted genetically very much over the years. The natural one hasn't. What's really shifted it is the vaccines. When you start injecting people with the virus, having it go into the body in an unnatural way so that there is not a full immune response, that's what causes mutations in the viruses because they're able to work their way around the vaccine.

It's happened very slowly with measles. It happened very quickly with the whooping cough bacteria, because of the really inefficient vaccine that was created for that.

The flu shots don't work at all. Even Anthony Fauci came out with paper in 2023 that was almost a confession; about how poorly they've done with these viral vaccines and flu shots, and how if they were compared to all the other vaccines, they wouldn't even be allowed to be on the market.

He said the COVID vaccines have the same problem. It's because they're not getting immunity where immunity is required, which is on the lung and the mucosal surfaces. How crazy to inject into a muscle a vaccine and think that you're going to get solid immunity on the nasal and upper respiratory mucosa. Absolute insanity.

Same with the polio vaccine … Salk comes along and creates this injectable vaccine. They had to manipulate that data so much. They had to change the definition of what they considered as polio.

That's what we added to [the polio] chapter. We're showing the charts and what they would look like in their pure form, without changing the definitions. The rates of polio actually went up hugely after that vaccine was introduced. So, there's never been a vaccine that's really worthwhile giving."

Changing Definitions Is Part of the Illusion

The changing of definitions is part of the vaccine industry's playbook. They had to do the same for the COVID pandemic. Not only was the definition of "pandemic" changed, but also the definition of a "vaccine," to allow for the use of experimental modified RNA gene therapy.

"They did the same thing they did with the Salk vaccine," Humphries says. "See, history just repeats itself. So, the first vaccine that came out, the Salk vaccine, had merthiolate [thimerosal], a mercury compound, in it to kill off unwanteds, but Salk wasn't happy with the field trials — the results of the antibody response from those children — so they took the merthiolate out.

So, we had one vaccine that was used for the testing and another that was given to the public. The same happened with the COVID vaccine. The mRNA technology, that's not how the original ones were given.

I did a talk not that long ago in Denver, where I went into this in depth; how the vaccine that was given for the trials was completely different to the one given to the public. It was much more pure for instance … It was a very, very different vaccine that was used on the population. Then of course, that vaccine changed. So, different companies had different ways of manufacturing."

Another part of the fraud is using another vaccine as the control in lieu of a true placebo. You simply cannot prove a vaccine is safe by comparing it to another, most likely unsafe, vaccine.

Yet that's how it's done. By using a toxic "control," many of the adverse effects are automatically hidden as people in the control group end up suffering similar adverse events, and at a similar rate. This tactic was used in some of the COVID shot trials as well.

Why You Don't Need a Tetanus Vaccine

According to Humphries, there are no worthwhile vaccines, not even smallpox or tetanus, and certainly not the polio vaccine. She's treated several cases of tetanus in the last five years, including in at least one fully vaccinated individual, using high-dose intravenous vitamin C and other essential nutrients.

One of the reasons why this works is because tetanus is not a viral disease. It's a bacterial disease caused by the Clostridium tetani bacterium, an obligate anaerobe. It can reside in soils, but it can also reside in your intestine where there's no oxygen.

Oxygen is toxic to it. If you expose that organism to oxygen, as you do with vitamin C (because the metabolite of vitamin C is hydrogen peroxide), it's instantaneously killed. Ozone therapy would likely be even more effective, for this reason.

So, if you get tetanus from a wound, the last thing you need is a tetanus shot or tetanus antibodies. All you need to do is apply ozone to the wound. It'll instantly destroy the bacteria. Applying hydrogen peroxide would also work. As explained by Humphries, vitamin C is also a neutralizer of toxins, which is another reason it works.

Tetanus is a spore, and it transforms under anaerobic conditions into a toxin-producing organism. If you can neutralize the toxin and kill the microbe, then you've won the battle. One hundred percent, we've won the battle. Humphries comments:

"In rabbit studies, they got tetanus spores and ground glass and put it under the skin of rabbits, sewed it up. If they gave rabbits vitamin C at the time that they did this, 100% of them survived. If they did it afterwards, the majority of them survived. If they already had high levels of vitamin C, all of them survived.

So, the rabbit study showed us that not only is tetanus preventable, it's treatable. I don't necessarily believe that by [injecting] a toxoid, that you're going to respond …

There are so many case reports of people with paralytic tetanus after having five vaccines … I don't care what wound I have. There's no way a tetanus vaccine or a tetanus immune globulin, which is a human pooled blood product, is going into me …

[The tetanus shot] actually changes your T-3 to T-4 ratio. This is all documented. I didn't put it in the book, but I've got a video out there from when I was in Finland, showing that it definitely changes the way your immune system works. All vaccines do."

What people have to realize is that the schemes used to push the COVID shots is nothing new. "It's pretty much exactly the same as it's been for 225 years, where the recipients are not the beneficiaries of this technology and humanity is not getting healthier by any means as a result of it," Humphries says.

Does that mean we'll never get sick? No, it doesn't. But I personally believe it's good to get sick once in a while and get some of that effusions out of your lungs and your nose. I think that does us some good once in a while."

Spending time outdoors can significantly lift your mood, so it's no surprise that outdoors activities such as gardening and nature hikes¹ have been found to be good therapy. In one survey,² 80% of gardeners reported being "happy" and satisfied with their lives, compared to 67% of non-gardeners, and the more time spent in the garden, the greater their life satisfaction.

Among volunteers at an outdoor conservation project, a whopping 100% said participation improved their mental health and boosted their confidence and self-esteem.³ This general well-being among gardeners is typically attributed to the "recharging" you get from sticking your hands into soil and spending time in nature.

According to Craig Chalquist,⁴ a depth psychologist and chair of the East-West Psychology Department at California Institute of Integral Studies, who also happens to be certified in permaculture design: "If you hold moist soil for 20 minutes, the soil bacteria begin elevating your mood. You have all the antidepressant you need in the ground."⁵

In Japan, the practice known as "forest bathing" (Shinrin-yoku) has been part of the national health program since 1982, and its benefits are now starting to become more widely recognized in the U.S. As explained by The Atlantic:⁶

"The aim was to briefly reconnect people with nature in the simplest way possible. Go to the woods, breathe deeply, be at peace. Forest bathing was Japan's medically sanctioned method of unplugging before there were smartphones to unplug from.

Since Shinrin-yoku's inception, researchers have spent millions of dollars testing its efficacy; the documented benefits to one's health thus far include lowered blood pressure, blood glucose levels and stress hormones."

The Importance of Slowing Down

Being in nature has the effect of winding you down because nature's pace is so much slower than our man-made environment. There's a pulse and rhythm in nature, and when you start to observe it and take it in, you find that everything takes time. Change is not immediate. It's a process.

With "lightning speed" internet and 24/7 connectivity, we tend to forget this. We get so used to instant results and immediate gratification. You could say observing nature leads to greater tolerance for slowness, otherwise known as patience.

This feeling of well-being can have more far-reaching implications for your physical health too. According to research from Johns Hopkins,⁷ having a cheerful temperament can significantly reduce your odds of suffering a heart attack or sudden cardiac death. As noted by lead author Lisa R. Yanek:⁸

"If you are by nature a cheerful person and look on the bright side of things, you are more likely to be protected from cardiac events. A happier temperament has an actual effect on disease and you may be healthier as a result."

Nature Deficit Disorder — A Rampant Malady

An article in The Atlantic⁹ highlights the growing field of ecotherapy, referring to "methods of cultivating the health benefits of being in nature."¹⁰ As noted by Florence Williams, author of "The Nature Fix: Why Nature Makes Us Happier, Healthier, and More Creative," "Intuitively, many of us believe … we feel better in nature. But it's only recently that we've been able to see biomarkers of this change."¹¹

In the video above, The Atlantic senior editor Dr. James Hamblin investigates these benefits and interviews mental health therapists using ecotherapy in their practice. Other terms^12,13 used for this kind of therapy include green therapy, nature therapy and earth-centered therapy.

Ecotherapy as an umbrella term also covers horticultural therapy, animal-assisted therapy, wilderness therapy, farm therapy, time stress management and "ecoanxiety"¹⁴ management — stress, depression, anxiety, grief and despair attributed specifically to trauma related to climate disruptions. An example would be depression or grief following the loss of a loved one in a hurricane or flash flood.

Estimates suggest the average American spends anywhere between 80% and 99% of their life indoors — a lifestyle trend that has led to what some now refer to as "nature deficit disorder."¹⁵ This is not an actual psychological diagnosis, but rather a term used to describe a lifestyle deficit that contributes to poor psychological and physical health. Ecotherapy, which basically involves a prescription to go out and spend time in a natural setting, has been shown to:¹⁶

• Decrease anxiety and depression
• Improve self-esteem
• Improve social connections
• Decrease fatigue in cancer patients
• Improve blood pressure

Spending time outdoors also boosts your vitamin D level (provided you're showing enough bare skin) and, if you walk barefoot, helps you ground (also known as Earthing).

Dr. Lee Cowden says most people don't die from cancer; they die from the side effects of treatment. While the "war against cancer" is moving toward more personalized and so-called "precision medicine" treatments, the old standby model of "cut, poison and burn," via surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, is still widely used and regarded as the standard of care for many cancer cases.

One of the major problems with chemotherapy is its indiscriminate toxicity, which poisons your body systemically in an attempt to knock out cancer cells. There have long been signs that this model has fatal flaws and may cause more harm than good. In the case of the breast cancer chemotherapy drug Tamoxifen, for instance, patients must trade one risk for another, as while it may reduce breast cancer, it more than doubles women's risk of uterine cancer.¹

Serious, sometimes-fatal side effects (or more aptly, simply effects) of chemotherapy are common, as are serious unforeseen effects that may make your cancer prognosis worse instead of better.

Writing in the journal Science Translational Medicine, researchers from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine revealed that giving chemotherapy prior to surgery for breast cancer may promote disease metastasis, or the growth and spread of cancer to other areas of the body.² This, in turn, greatly increases a woman's risk of dying from the disease.

Chemotherapy May Make Breast Cancer More Aggressive and Likely to Spread

Preoperative chemotherapy, known as neoadjuvant chemotherapy, is often offered to women because it may help shrink tumors, which increases the likelihood that women will receive lumpectomy surgery instead of a full mastectomy. After performing tests on mice and human tissue, however, the researchers found that doing so may increase the likelihood of metastasis by increasing what are known as "tumor microenvironments of metastasis." As Stat News explained:³

"Called 'tumor microenvironments of metastasis,' these on-ramps are sites on blood vessels that special immune cells flock to. If the immune cells hook up with a tumor cell, they usher it into a blood vessel like a Lyft picking up a passenger. Since blood vessels are the highways to distant organs, the result is metastasis, or the spread of cancer to far-flung sites."

When mice with breast cancer or given human breast tumors were given the chemotherapy, it altered the tumor microenvironment in ways that made them more conducive to cancer spread, including, Stat reported:⁴

• Increasing the number of immune cells that transport cancer cells into blood vessels
• Making blood vessels more permeable to cancer cells
• Making tumor cells more mobile

In mice, chemotherapy treatment doubled the number of cancer cells in the bloodstream and lungs compared to mice that did not receive the treatment. Further, in 20 human patients who received common chemotherapy drugs, the tumor microenvironments also became more favorable to cancer spread. As The Telegraph noted:

"It is thought the toxic medication switches on a repair mechanism in the body which ultimately allows tumors to grow back stronger. It also increases the number of 'doorways' on blood vessels which allow cancer to spread throughout the body."⁵

Further, researchers wrote in a 2012 Journal of Clinical Oncology editorial, "Unfortunately, neoadjuvant chemotherapy does not seem to improve overall survival, as demonstrated in the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) B18 trial, among others."⁶ This means women may be trading a potential increased risk of cancer metastasis for a treatment that doesn't even improve their chances of survival.

It's Been Known for Years That Chemotherapy Can Trigger Tumor Growth

While the news that chemotherapy may encourage cancer spread may sound surprising, it's not a new discovery. In 2012, researchers found chemotherapy for prostate cancer caused DNA damage in healthy cells and caused them to secrete more of a protein called WNT16B, which boosts tumor growth and may encourage cancer cells to develop resistance to treatment.

"WNT16B, when secreted, would interact with nearby tumor cells and cause them to grow, invade and, importantly, resist subsequent therapy," study co-author Dr. Peter Nelson, of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, told AFP News.⁷

In the journal Nature Medicine, the researchers further noted, "The expression of WNT16B in the prostate tumor microenvironment attenuated the effects of cytotoxic chemotherapy in vivo, promoting tumor cell survival and disease progression"⁸ and "… [D]amage responses in benign cells … may directly contribute to enhanced tumor growth kinetics."⁹

While research continues to reveal that chemotherapy's effects are wide-reaching and devastating to healthy cells, it's also been shown — at least as far back as 2004 — that "chemotherapy only makes a minor contribution to cancer survival."¹⁰ A Clinical Oncology study found that in terms of five-year survival rates in adult cancer cases, chemotherapy has an average five-year survival success rate of just 2.3% in Australia and 2.1% in the U.S.¹¹

Separate research revealed that out of nearly 2,000 patients receiving chemotherapy, 161 deaths occurred within 30 days of the treatment. Nearly 8% of them were classified as related to the chemotherapy (and another nearly 16% were unclassified due to insufficient information).¹²

Further, as mentioned, chemotherapy can increase the risk of subsequent cancer, such as therapy-related acute myeloid leukemia (tAML), "a rare but highly fatal complication of cytotoxic chemotherapy." Researchers noted that tAML cases occur nearly five times more often in adults treated with chemotherapy than they do in the general population.¹³

Conventional Oncologists Aren't Likely to Explain the Many Options for Treatment

Upon receiving a cancer diagnosis, many people assume their only options for treatment are chemotherapy, surgery or radiation. Only you and your health care team can make the decision on how to best pursue treatment, but you should know that conventional providers are unlikely to think outside the box.

Oncology is the only specialty in medicine that is allowed and even encouraged to sell drugs at massive profits — typically in excess of 50% — and cancer drugs are, as a general category, the most expensive medications in all of medicine to begin with. Oncologists actually get a commission for the chemotherapy drugs they sell, and with that type of incentive, it's nearly impossible to imagine them actively seeking other alternatives.

Oncologists are further constrained by the "standard of care" prescribed by oncology medical boards and the drug industry. If they go against the established standard of care, they're susceptible to having their license reprimanded or even taken away. As a result, patients are typically forced to go it alone if they don't want to go the conventional route, which is unfortunate because there are many promising alternative treatments.

Understanding Your Options for Cancer Treatment

A comprehensive natural cancer-fighting approach would be to make your body as healthy as possible, using detoxification, strategies to boost your immune function, dietary changes and other targeted therapies depending on your needs. For instance, Annie Brandt — a 16-year cancer survivor and author of "The Healing Platform: Build Your Own Cure!" — states products that are helpful against metastatic cancer cells include:

Curcumin (turmeric)	Broccoli sprouts	Glucoraphanin

The point is that there are many anticancer strategies overlooked by conventional medicine. Many of them even work in addition to conventional treatment. For instance, vitamin C in combination with nutritional ketosis and fasting prior to administering chemotherapy radically improve the effectiveness of chemotherapy.

Oncologists in Turkey, who aren't under the same U.S. restrictions, are also using a stacked ketogenic treatment protocol that is showing shocking remissions in many stage 4 cancer patients. The treatment protocol at ChemoThermia Oncology Center in Turkey includes:

• Metabolically supported chemotherapy (applying chemotherapy with a variety of interventions to support its effectiveness)
• Hyperthermia
• Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
• Glycolysis inhibitors, especially 2-deoxyglucose (2-DG) and dichloroacetate (DCA)
• Ketogenic diet with phytopharmaceutical supplements

At the center, all oncology patients are put on a ketogenic diet, which creates metabolic stress on the cancer cells. Then, prior to administering the chemo, the patient will do a 14-hour fast, which further increases the metabolic stress on the cancer cells.

The patients will typically have a blood glucose level around 80 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL) at this point. They then apply glycolysis inhibitors to inhibit the glycolysis pathway in the cancer cells, which creates a terrific amount of metabolic stress, as the cancer cells are already starved of glucose.

Insulin is then applied to lower the blood glucose levels to around 50 or 60 mg/dL, to cause mild hypoglycemia. At that point, chemotherapy is applied, often at a far lower dose than would otherwise be used, thereby lowering the risk of side effects.

In the days following chemotherapy, hyperthermia and hyperbaric oxygen therapy are applied, plus a daily infusion of glycolysis inhibitor therapies with high-dose vitamin C (50 grams) and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). A sampling of other targeted therapies covered in Brandt's book are below.

Poly-MVA, a colloidal mineral complex that crosses the blood-brain barrier and helps renourish your body and brain at the cellular level. It also helps replace nutrients lost during chemotherapeutic and radiological treatments.

AvéULTRA (Metatrol), a fermented wheat germ product.

Selenium, vitamin D and iodine, as most cancer patients are low in these three nutrients. Since I do regular sauna therapy, I take 200 micrograms of SelenoExcell each day. (You tend to excrete selenium when sweating.) Selenium increases glutathione, an important metabolic antioxidant necessary for detoxification. It also catalyzes the conversion of thyroid hormone T4 to T3, so it can be beneficial if you have thyroid problems.

Modified citrus pectin (MCP) has been shown to reverse cancer and stop metastatic cancer. Brandt recommends the brand ecoNugenics, as this is the one that has been scientifically studied and verified to work.

Colloidal silver is a nontoxic, broad-spectrum antimicrobial therapy with no known toxicity and no known mechanism for acquired resistance.

Salicinium, a plant-based extract that inhibits production of nagalase — an enzyme produced by cancer cells — while simultaneously stimulating innate immune cells.

So as mentioned, there are many promising avenues to target cancer. Even if you're working with a conventional oncologist, the ChemoThermia Oncology Center has published protocols your oncologist could make use of, regardless of where you live. If your oncologist isn't willing to integrate these alternative strategies into your care regimen, you may want to consider finding a new doctor.

In addition to the weather modification¹ going on around the world, militaries around the world are also routinely dispersing tiny bits of aluminum-coated fiberglass and plastic — known as "chaff" — into the air column, to shield aircraft and ships from enemy radar.² Not surprisingly, this has been done for decades, without clear evidence that it's safe for humans and the environment.

According to a 1998 General Accounting Office report³ and a 1999 follow-up report⁴ by the Naval Research Laboratory, the environmental, human and agricultural impacts of chaff used in military training scenarios at the time were "negligible and far less than those from other man-made emissions," but does that really mean it's safe? As explained in a 2001 Navy Medicine paper:⁵

"Radiofrequency (RF) chaff is an electronic countermeasure designed to reflect radar waves and obscure planes, ships, and other assets from radar tracking sources.

Chaff consists of aluminum-coated glass fibers (also referred to as dipoles) ranging in lengths from 0.8 to 0.75 cm. Chaff is released or dispensed from military vehicles in cartridges or projectiles that contain millions of dipoles.

When deployed, a diffuse cloud of dipoles is formed that is undetectable to the human eye. Chaff is a very light material that can remain suspended in air anywhere from 10 minutes to 10 hours and can travel considerable distances from its release point, depending on prevailing atmospheric conditions.

Training for military personnel, particularly aircraft pilots, in the use of chaff is necessary to deploy this electronic countermeasure effectively. As with most acquired skills, the deployment of chaff must be maintained by practicing in-flight release during training.

It is estimated that the U.S. Armed Forces dispense about 500 tons of chaff per year, with most chaff being released during training exercises within the continental United States."

Is Chaff Safe?

According to the Naval Medicine investigation, inhalation of whole, intact chaff fibers pose "no risk" to humans due to their larger size. "If inhaled, dipoles are predicted to deposit in the nose, mouth, or trachea and are either swallowed or expelled," the paper states.⁶

Note the use of the word "predicted," however. Predictions are not evidence. They're basically guessing. Open questions also remain about what happens when the fibers degrade.

"Several investigations have demonstrated that Al-coated dipoles are resistant to weathering and breakdown under desert conditions," the paper states.⁷

"A 1977 US Navy-sponsored a study found no evidence to indicate that chaff degrades significantly or quickly in water from the Chesapeake Bay nor did this material leach significant amounts of aluminum into the Bay.

A recent study by our group found no evidence that 25 years of chaff operations at the Naval Research Laboratory detachment at Chesapeake Beach, MD resulted in a significant increase in sediment or soil aluminum concentrations (Wilson et al 2000).

However, additional studies are needed to determine the half-life of chaff dipoles in various soils and environmental conditions and whether dipoles breakdown to respirable particles …

Although there is no definitive evidence from the epidemiological literature that chaff exposure is not harmful, there is epidemiological information available on workers involved in the glass fiber manufacturing industry. Data from these studies suggests that exposure to fibrous glass is not associated with increased risk of death from respiratory disease."

The problem with that is that fiberglass workers are equipped with protective gear, including respirators, Tyvek suits and safety goggles⁸ — gear that normal people don't wear when they're out and about. All this tells us is that chaff is unlikely to cause harm to public health, provided people are wearing respirators, which they don't.

Remarkably, not much beyond these three reports exist. While all admitted the need for continued research, none appears to have been published, so there's really no telling what the real-world impact might be. That said, common sense tells us that air dispersed aluminum and fiberglass is highly likely to have some sort of impact on the environment and human health.

Geoengineering Has Been Going on for Decades

Aluminum and fiberglass are not the only toxins being sprayed across our skies. As detailed by Dane Wigington, founder of Geoengineeringwatch.org, weather modification, also known as geoengineering, in which various toxic metals and chemicals are dispersed at high altitude, has been going on for more than 70 years, and is increasing rather than declining.

In response to a United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report issued in August 2021,^9,10 which called for radical measures to prevent further global warming, the Biden Administration launched a research effort in 2022 to determine the most effective way to dim the sun.¹¹

One proposal involves injecting sulfur dioxide aerosols into the Earth's stratosphere. The tiny reflective particles would bounce sunlight back into space instead of onto the Earth's surface.¹² According to Harvard researchers,¹³ this strategy is not only "technically possible" but also "remarkably inexpensive," having a price tag that is "well within the reach of several nations."

Earth's climate is largely controlled by how much solar radiation reaches the Earth and how much is absorbed by its surface or reradiated to space. Cloud coverage and greenhouse gasses are examples of factors that influence the reflectance of solar radiation.¹⁴

"If geoengineering proposals are to influence global climate in any meaningful way, they must intentionally alter the relative influence of one of these controlling mechanisms," Britannica explains.¹⁵

The U.N. report mentions solar radiation management and greenhouse gas removal as forms of geoengineering.¹⁶ Sulfate aerosols fall into the solar radiation management category. By reflecting more solar radiation back into space, the aerosols lower global temperatures but also have a serious "side effect" — they lower average precipitation.

As a result, additional geoengineering techniques — such as thinning out cirrus clouds in the upper atmosphere — would be necessary to counteract the decrease in precipitation. What could possibly go wrong?

Supercomputers have run models to predict how solar radiation management may affect different parts of the Earth, not only in terms of temperature but also rainfall and snowfall. Report author Govindasamy Bala, from the Indian Institute of Science, said "the science is there,"¹⁷ but it's far from an exact one.

"I think the next big question," Bala told Reuters, "is, do you want to do it? … That involves uncertainty, moral issues, ethical issues and governance." As Reuters reported, "That's because every region would be affected differently. While some regions could gain in an artificially cooler world, others could suffer by, for example, no longer having conditions to grow crops."¹⁸

'Catastrophic Risks'

Three months after the IPCC published its panic-inciting report, Australian and British researchers published an original research article warning that stratospheric aerosol injection carries "catastrophic risks" that may well lead us into "a fate worse than [global] warming":¹⁹

"Injecting particles into atmosphere to reflect sunlight, stratospheric aerosol injection (SAI), represents a potential technological solution to the threat of climate change. But could the cure be worse than the disease? …

SAI plausibly interacts with other catastrophic calamities, most notably by potentially exacerbating the impacts of nuclear war or an extreme space weather event. SAI could contribute to systemic risk by introducing stressors into critical systems such as agriculture.

SAI's systemic stressors, and risks of systemic cascades and synchronous failures, are highly understudied. SAI deployment more tightly couples different ecological, economic, and political systems. This creates a precarious condition of latent risk, the largest cause for concern …

A well-coordinated use of a small amount of SAI would incur negligible risks, but this is an optimistic scenario. Conversely, larger use of SAI used in an uncoordinated manner poses many potential dangers. We cannot equivocally determine whether SAI will be worse than warming. For now, a heavy reliance on SAI seems an imprudent policy response."

In June 2023, the European Commission put out a call for "international talks on the dangers and governance of geoengineering," warning that geoengineering schemes aimed at altering the global climate pose "unacceptable" risks. During a news conference, EU climate policy chief Frans Timmermans stated:

"Nobody should be conducting experiments alone with our shared planet. This should be discussed in the right forum, at the highest international level."

Time will tell whether such talks ever take place. In September 2023, the Climate Overshoot Commission, chaired by Pascal Lamy, a former World Trade Organization chief, called for a worldwide moratorium on solar radiation modification experiments "that would carry risk of significant transboundary harm," and to focus instead on strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.^20,21 But, as of yet, no such moratorium has been agreed upon.

Socialist Ideology, Not Climate Science

Zuzana Janosova Den Boer experienced Communist rule in Czechoslovakia before moving to Canada. In her article, "I Survived Communism — Are You Ready for Your Turn?" she detailed the "all-too familiar signs of the same propaganda" starting to permeate her adopted country.²²

In relation to geoengineering, she points out that communism has been subverting the environmentalist movement since the 1970s, when then-chairman of the Communist Party USA, Gus Hall, published a book called "Ecology," in which he stated:²³

"Human society cannot basically stop the destruction of the environment under capitalism. Socialism is the only structure that makes it possible … We must be the organizers, the leaders of these movements."

Den Boer writes:²⁴

"This idea was incorporated into the U.S. Green Party program in 1989 … in which the fictitious threats of 'global warming' and 'climate change' are used to scare the public into believing humanity must 'save the planet':

'This urgency, along with other Green issues and themes it interrelates, makes confronting the greenhouse [effect] a powerful organizing tool … Survival is highly motivating, and may help us to build a mass movement that will lead to large-scale political and societal change in a very short time …

First of all, we [must] inform the public that the crisis is more immediate and severe than [they] are being told, [that] its implications are too great to wait for the universal scientific confirmation that only eco-catastrophe would establish.'"

The U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Den Boer suggests, is promoting not climate science but socialist ideology, citing as evidence comments made by Ottmar Georg Edenhofer, former co-chair of the IPCC Working Group III, who in a 2010 interview stated that climate issues are about economics, and that:²⁵

"We must free ourselves from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy … We must state clearly that we use climate policy de facto to redistribute the world's wealth."

Geoengineering Poses Extinction-Level Threat to Humanity

Even without factoring in social control, the practical risks of geoengineering are impossible to ignore. According to scientific studies, the particulates dispersed during these geoengineering events "shred" the ozone layer. They also disrupt the hydrological (rain) cycle, which leads to another host of downstream effects, and this is in addition to spreading toxins across the entire planet surface.

So, while some of the planet might benefit from these programs, other parts could be decimated by droughts, raging forest fires, flooding or storms. Moreover, while global cooling is the stated aim of most of these geoengineering programs, as the planet warms, the laws of physics state you need more precipitation to cool it, not less, because the atmosphere carries more moisture as the temperature rises.

To cool the planet, you need to create more rain, but these programs have resulted in less rain, and the reason for the reduction in rain fall is due to the particulates in the atmosphere. In addition to deflecting heat from the outside, these particles also trap heat down below, making the overall heating of the planet massively worse.

The risks are so immense, Wigington warns geoengineering already poses an extinction-level threat to humanity. The window of opportunity to save ourselves is rapidly closing.

Unfortunately, if people really understood the totality of the situation — not just that the climate is being manipulated, but that as a result, the global climate systems have deteriorated to the point that the entire Earth is in serious trouble; in short, that these programs may have created a runaway extinction event — the emotional impact might be too great to bear for many. Wigington addressed this in an interview I did with him back in 2016:

"Our situation is far more severe than most people have any understanding of," he said. "Climate engineering is making the situation worse, not better.

So [they must] try to keep the population from panicking because of the severity and immediacy of the climate implosion, and keep the population in the dark because the climate intervention programs have helped to accelerate this process and toxified every single one of us in the process.

Every single human subject we test is packed full of aluminum, barium — all the heavy metals we know are associated with these programs. It doesn't matter where they live.

And we know it's coming down in the precipitation in unimaginable quantities — quantities enough to change soil pH values in the Pacific Northwest 10 to 12 times total alkaline — that's an unimaginable amount of metal coming down in the rain.

If populations understood, truly, what's been done to them, what's been done to the planet … they'd be taking to the streets with pitchforks and torches all over the globe."

California Aquatic and Terrestrial Insect Life Has Been Decimated

Geoengineeringwatch.org lists a number of lab tests that have been performed on rain water, air sample and more, and their results. You can find them under the Tests section.

"In regard to the effect in the environment, in Northern California alone … what we've seen in the last decade … is a 90% decline in aquatic and terrestrial insect life — a virtual crash," Wigington told me in 2016.

"There's so much aluminum coming down the precipitation, affecting the soil pH, and — this is very important — the UV radiation level is off the charts, and that we can link directly to climate engineering … We're seeing UVB levels about 1,000% higher than we're being told. It's burning the bark off of trees. It's killing plankton. It's affecting insect life …

[It increases UVB radiation] because it shreds the natural protection for the planet. When you put a particle in the atmosphere, it doesn't matter whether it's from a back of a jet or a volcano; it causes a chemical reaction in the atmosphere that destroys ozone. Period. So the more of these particles you put in the atmosphere, the more rapid the ozone destruction is."

With all of that in mind, it's highly unlikely that military chaff dispersements have no negative impact. An argument could be made that chaff is too important of a defense system to get rid of, and that may be true. But the climate-specific engineering is another matter altogether.

In years past, it was kept hush-hush, and dismissed as a conspiracy theory. Since then, however, governments around the world, and international bodies like the U.N. have become quite open about the use of geoengineering for climate control, and if the global public does not push back against these efforts, we might not survive to regret it.
